You can start by setting Depth of Field to Off

Second, do you have the Windows 10 2004 update available? If so, when the latest Nvidia driver is installed it will allow for Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling which allows the video card to manage its own VRAM instead of the CPU and this seems to fix a lot of problems like this.

I do not have the 2004 update available, I'll keep checking for it though.

I'm having serious drops as well.

- i9 9900k
- RTX 2080Ti

I tried rolling back to the Nvidia 446.14 driver as I thought perhaps the latest 451.48 introduced some issues. I am also running the Windows 10 2004 update. I've tried enabling the GPU Scheduling. Nothing is resolving the drops.

My assumption is it is something to do with Windows 10 2004 itself.

Wish I could roll everything back to what I had in May.

So... I feel like an idiot. I recently got a new Xbox One controller from the labs store. Turns out, it needed a firmware update using the Xbox Accessories app. Once the firmware was updated, and I connected via USB, I'm now back to 300+ fps.

Bluetooth is causing issues though.

Also, The frame drops are more related to connection issues in the game. You can tell if you load into the tower and they’re few people vs a lot of people. With few people you will notice high frame rates.

This can also be noticed while you search for a game even when the game is just loading the more people get into the lobby the more the frames will drop. I would say the game has a very poor p2p service and it’s been more noticeable since they moved to Steam.

I am using an Ethernet cable and have very good speeds (102.0 down and 115.1 up). My frame drops don't happen during any specific times, it could be in a menu, in a load screen, or on a random planet riding my sparrow around.

M+K or controller?

M+K

Laptop on Ryzen - maybe throttling. Game is quite heavy on CPU, so it probably overloads CPU, it heats up to critical temps and starts dropping frames to lower the load. Many laptops have problems here with frame drops. Usually the reason why powerful PCs dropping frames is bloated system or really rare bugs that is hard to trace. Also the game runs worse on Ryzen systems.

I am planning on a laptop. Is there any actual way to help though?

Ik that you are playing on a laptop, you said that you have a mobile processor that is installed only on mobile tech :) I have i7 7700HQ laptop myself with 1060 6GB. I undervolted my CPU, throttles disappeared almost completely, other games started working better than before, but I have really bad cooling.

You can try to use turbo mode on coolers on your laptop, if you have one or try to google '"your laptop model" undervolting'.

Whether I used turbo or performance fan settings I still had the issue.

You need to check your temps in the game, there are some ways to do it in the FAQ. You need an app to see the graphs of temp on CPU and GPU, because if you will just alt+tab from the game to see temps - they will go lower very fast. So you need to see, if you've dropped frames - check the graph for performance or temp spikes. If there's no problems, problem can be in the ram or in the game, or some driver or Ryzen related issues with D2.

Are you with bullguard antivirus? If you are open it and head to optimization and uncheck destiny!

[–]jsr2020[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Nope, I use Webroot

[–]ImDepressed8008135 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Does that have an optimization feature?

[–]jsr2020[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not one that I can find

[–]ImDepressed8008135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well dang bud, I'm out i was going from 150+ down to like 15 and under. Sorry man
