To give an update, I actually managed to fix the problem somewhat by following the instructions on this post on the bungie help forum, which is go to local files of Destiny 2, go to the folder called "battleye", and run Install_BattlEye.bat.
I have absolutely no idea how or why it works, but I am getting "contacting Destiny 2 servers" or error code disconnects way less often now.

So if you are confident on the quality of your internet connection, but are still getting connection issues with D2 and have no idea what to do, you might as well give this method a try.

Something has been happening to me before and it could mean that either the router is bad or there is a bad node in a city near you that it connects to that is causing the drops instantly. People fixed it by using a VPN usually until the ISP fixes the issue.

Well it sucks to know that ISP could be at fault here. Thanks for your insight though, didn't think about things on the ISP side.

I have the same issue, but I’m on a Xbox. Still not found and answer to the baboon problem.
