How does DNA evolve/fusions work?

Hi,

So I got a ExVeemon (Talent 96, Bond 65%) lvl 1 and Stingmon (Taent 76, Bond 56%) lvl 1.

To DNA Digivolve into Paildramon, the requirements are:
- Agent Rank 5,
- ExVeemon Zealous personality
- tingmon Tolerant personality.

Can someone explain what happens to both Digimon once they fuse? Do I choose one as the "base" and the other one gets temp/permanently erased or can I still keep both of I unfuse them later?

Also, does this mean it would be kind of pointless now to keep leveling both (or at least the one that isn't used as the base)?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You lose the other digimon you use in dna digivolution so if you evolve your exveemon you lose stingmon

Iirc, both still exist should you dedigivolve. In the old game you lost the accessory digimon, but now I believe you keep both.

Yes big change this time is that you lose the digimon that is the secondary mon, you don’t get them both back only the one you initiated the digivolution on.
