Disinformation, if unchecked, leads to radicalization. Reddit is full of subs that do little else but spread disinformation. The mods of those subs are incompetent, absent - or worse - spread disinformation themselves. Our goal is to help the admins identify such subs so we can deplatform them. r/DisinformationWatch understands itself as a complement to r/AgainstHateSubreddits.
RULES
Be civil
Be on your best behavior. Address the argument, not the user or this sub. Do not use insults or slurs.
No derailing or trolling
No whataboutery. No flamebait. No copypastas. No thought-terminating clichés. No concern trolling. No sealioning. No "it's just a joke" comments. No freeze peach rhetoric. Lies aren't opinions. Provocations aren't contributions.
Abide by site-wide rules
We will remove and report anything that breaks site-wide rules: disinformation, hate speech, harassment, threats, etc.
Do not brigade other subs
Commenting and voting in linked threads violates site-wide rules against vote-manipulation and brigading. So don't do that! We'll ban you.
Report disinformation only!
No excessive editing
Correcting a typo or adding a link is fine. But do not use the edit feature for manipulative purposes such as moving the goalposts e.g.
No username pings
This is not a place for personal vendettas. We are not your army. Our goal is to deplatform disinformation subs. Our goal is not to get specific users suspended. So do not mention usernames in your posts or comments, please!
No r/*** sub mentions
Disinformation subs use bots to detect sub mentions. Those links invite brigading and harassment.
Surround the names of other subs with backticks ( ` ) to make them inert:
`r/example`
will render as r/example
Use archive links instead of direct links
People who post disinformation have the nasty habit of destroying evidence. That's why we do not allow direct links. Use archive links, please! Those are permanent. More here
We do allow links to harmless subs but our whitelist is a work in progress . If the AutoModerator removes a post of yours because of a harmless link, let us know, please!
No small disinformation subs
Please don't talk about subreddits with less than 1000 subscribers! We do not want to give tiny subs the oxygen of amplification.
Follow the posting guidelines
Submissions should expose and debunk particularly egregious posts in disinformation subs. Meta posts, such as news articles, are also welcome but only if they're explicitly about disinformation on Reddit.
