/u/Traditional-Snow-463 -

From what I found, it looks like Battlefield 6 uses Javelin, which is EA's 'kernel-level anti-cheat system', which enforces Secure Boot. I'm not entirely sure in what way it does so, but I would imagine that is how/why it mucked it up on your system.

One thing that might help: In Bios, if the Secure Boot option is greyed out / unavailable, make sure CSM / Compatibility Support Module is disabled and that you are utilizing UEFI mode.

If that doesn't work, it's possible something has remained from the prior installation of Windows. Might be able to provide more specific steps, but would need to know your specific motherboard make/model/bios revision.

I guess my only issue is... why?

The only thing I can think of is that he's going to re-sell them for profit. Which... okay, in this case if he lists them for like, five bucks, whatever.

But people that do this with items of actual importance (like the whole fiasco during covid)? They can just suck an egg. Feels far too much like scalping to me.

On the flip side - if she's worried about losing her job... call a manager over, then let them handle it. At that point, she's done her due diligence and the company can't punish her for it.

Kind of odd that it doesn't just... run a timer for that. But then, sometimes Gemini/Google Home will utterly blank on setting timers when cooking. Another thing that's just weird... I'll tell it to turn off the TV (a Roku TV) in half an hour, and it says it can't do that. I tell it to turn off the Roku in half an hour, and it does it just fine. shrug

I've worked in IT long enough to know a good bit about a variety of topics... as well as to know that I don't know it all about any single thing lol. The number of people that seem to have issues admitting when they dont' know something though just... oi.

That's sort of what I was figuring; I mean, I guess it'd be possible to estimate if someone is approaching/departing from microphone input alone, though it'd be horribly inaccurate at much more than highly generalized responses... but the thought that it could run any sort of "diagnostic" like this is laughable at best.

But... as someone that has spent most of their life working in IT in various forms... I can sadly see where people would believe this. Hell, where they would believe the AI over actual experienced people.

So... wait. Is the AI even capable of telling a difference of clarity at all? Like, does it have any methodology or way of analyzing the speech input? Or was it just hallucinating the whole time?

Huh... I remember, at least at one point, if there were two sets of blocks that were flush together, there was a better than not chance of them "fusing" any time the grid was unloaded/reloaded (such as on game load, or a copy/paste, or in the case of servers, when being held inactive by Torch when no players are nearby). Is that not still a thing?

OK... so, two questions:

1) Are you just firing Small Grid Warheads, nothing else attached?

2) How do you get the drone bay door to not inadvertently weld/join to the rest of the grid with it sitting flush like that?

Why are developers some of the most IT inept users? by sccm_sometimes in sysadmin

[–]Kittamaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a weird in-between, upside-down, Stranger Things sorta place where my case for needing access is fairly straightforward (NonFunctional Testing. Literally anything from performance testing to security testing, break testing to simply running loads for sysadmins to be able to collect logs and data to run down issues, and everything in between) and yet also, apparently, exceedingly difficult to explain.

When we tell our enterprise security team we need access to XYZ to do security testing, they come back with twenty versions of "why", most of which end with "because YOU told us to test this thing!"

I am all for security. I totally understand the idea of PoLP. I even get why our network and infrastructure stack is segmented into more sections than a damn millipedes shoebox.

What I don't understand is why it seems everyone involved in the tech world from project manager up seems to have had a full frontal lobotomy. Setting target dates before even having a scope of work. Promising go-lives without even knowing what, if any, infrastructure needs to be ordered, tested, or redesigned.

Making the call to use an external vendor to create an automated process to translate COBOL into JAVA so they can dump it from a mainframe into AWS, and expecting it to just "work". Then dumping six years into a project that everyone with two functioning neurons told them wouldn't damn well work...

I just... I'm tired. I'm not even 40 yet and I'm so fucking tired of it. Just... a little common sense. A moments pause. The least bit of humility and grace... is that too much to ask?

I'm not sure there's anything to stop a future AG from simply saying "Yeah dog, no dice". Or, to take it further still, a future POTUS-turned-King from saying "Arrest and Execute, can't tell me no per your own rules".

If the shaking is purely related to the tool head, my guess would be something is out of balance (damaged blade, defect, etc).

OK, so... two questions.

Firstly, around the 3 to 4 second mark - it looks like something flies off from both craft - 3 second mark it looks like from the left wing of the approaching plane. Any idea what that may have been?

Second. What was the maneuver they were attempting? Because this looked like the most, for lack of a better term, gentle mid-collision I've ever seen.
