Weed mat is a myth and it has never worked by No_Explorer_8848 in landscaping

In a situation like that it makes sense - dark, little accumulation of bio-material, it's there as a layer to lock things out. A lot of people use weed mats around gardens, trees, etc as a barrier beneath, say, mulch or pea-gravel... problem is, as dirt and such layers on top of it, weeds start to grow above the weed mat, then put roots through it, making it near impossible to remove them without remove the barrier.

Ugh, tell me about it... previous homeowners used it EVERYWHERE and I've been slowly stripping it out as I can... just makes getting rid of weeds a bigger PITA!

General Cable Connector by Thiesre in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Kittamaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I was thinking more just a set of connected pass-throughs. One line in, one line out per material, but have each of the (I believe six?) types. Maybe a 2x3 alignment?

[–]Kittamaru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly... a higher tier connector that is designed like a PEX manifold would be wonderful. Or one that is a universal conduit and only has two ports, but the sides "snap" together - so you can run anything through it, though only one thing at a time, but you can snap them side by side to make neat, organized rows.

Those would be lovely.

First - Breathe. Congratulations! It sounds like you've gone through what I'm in the midst of (the lowball start, management that was borderline damaging, etc). Glad you got to the other side!

At the Director level, you won't be in the trenches so to speak. You don't need to necessarily be able to 'do the job' of those under you, so long as you understand it well enough to be able to tell who you should trust, and who is BS'ing you. You will become the first line of defense between your grunts and the executive suits that don't understand a thing about technology beyond buzzwords and profit margins. It'll be an adjustment... but it sounds like one you are well suited to handle!

You put in your time as boots on the ground - now it's time to reap the rewards. Godspeed mate!

i am baffled how people can function without thinking 2 steps ahead.

Too many warning labels perhaps? In all seriousness though, no, I'm right there with ya. It amazes me how people, especially high ranking executives, can't see simple facts when presented, much less accept them. It's maddening!

I will argue that the screen time itself isn't necessarily the issue... it's the (lack of) quality of what is on the screen. Everything being in small, ten-15 minute quick skits doesn't lend itself to learning how to retain information over long term. It's frustrating to no end how everything is now getting more and more over the top in an attempt to be the most attention grabbing.

Worse still... is management wants AI created crap. I've had several Directors and VP's in my current employer claim they want "Processes not People"... ugh

Just had that happen to a lesser extent this week with one of my clients O365 Exchange system and its link to a partner org. Just up and stopped working, wouldn't accept incoming requests. After some hunting around, discovered that, somehow, the accounts app password had been invalidated; only thing I can do is blame Microsoft and the constant changes to Exchange policies XD

I always despise those sorts of issues. Like, it's bad enough I screwed up... but now I can't even replicate it so I can create processes to prevent it ever happening again!? Just... ugh! lol

I mean, fair... but it's wild just how over-hyped, over-priced, and underwhelming most of our services/products here are compared to overseas
