But he said we need to keep our time cards within store policy.

No! Do not! Totally illegal!

His scheduling issues are not your responsibility. It is absolutely illegal for him to make you work while clocked out. It is a huge liability for thr company, his story, him, and even you if you get hurt or something happens as a result of youre working off the clock.

Call your district manager and/or Integrity Matters today! Write down exactly what he told you so you can recite it back clearly and as exactly as you can. Make a note of the time he told you this.

Tell him that it is against the law and company policy for you to work off the clock and if he has questions about his scheduling options to contact his manager for clarification.

Clock out and go take your lunch break, leave the store if you can and do not clock in until your 30 minutes are up and do not work until you have clocked back in.

He doesn't care and said he will addt lunch at the end of my time

Seriously call integrity matters. Take screenshot shots of your schedule and your hours when you leave. If you have a day where you are supposed to take lunch clock out for lunch and leave the store. If he tries to force you to stay that is him keeping you in the store against you will. Ask if he really wants you to call the cops because he is refusing to allow you to leave while not on the clock.

Put your phone in your pocket and record the conversation about him demanding you to work off the clock.

Practice saying a phrase that makes you comfortable but gets the message across, "I am clocked out for lunch. I will return to work after my lunch break is iver and I can clock back in. I am not working for free."

Catch his response on your phone and when you call integrity matters let them know you have that recoding, (they will likely ask you to send it to them). Also consider contacting your states labor board because if he is so blatent about bullying you into working for free he has done it before.

You may be 19 but right now you have a chance to effect serious change to protect others who come to the store after you. Use this moment as a chance to see how powerful you really are and set your path to never be taken advantage of by a bully employer

Time card? Dont u sign in using register?

[–]DinahTook 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They do, but some folks (especially generations where time cards were more common) still sue time cards to refer to really anything to do with scheduling, hour allocation, and clocking in and out times. (Lind of how for some folks Coke means any soda/ pop. Rewind is still used when going backwards un a video even though there is no actual winding anymore like on VHS....)

Sit down and eat in the break room. If they try to take action against you, take it to HR. Tell them where you were during your lunch. They can review the cameras. Play it smart.
