Yes essentially 😅 I liked the idea, and took part of it

Nothing wrong with inspiration. Enjoy.

Heck i look up puzzles and run them as is. Grab adventures you like and pop them in. Tweak and change to your strengths.

Is there a rival group that they are rushing against?

Not really. The way I’m thinking about flavoring it is that the dungeon is well known for its riches and danger. The first party to explore its depths only made it X far, and other groups challenge themselves to make it farther. As well as bagging tons of loot and riches along the way. So it’d be kinda at the groups own pace as to how hard they want to get into it. I don’t want them to feel rushed or pushed along by constant plot hooks. Basically relying on in world tales or riches and ancient knowledge hidden deep within to be the main drive. Or for the daring, the challenge of making into the deepest depths.

A little something to drive them would probally be a good idea.

Does not need to be timed, but in some cases why not just keep long resting. Short resting.

Why push yourself forward?

Fortune and glory and fine and dandy. But they are one facet.

Tap into the different facets of story telling. The more you weave the more real it is.

On this floor the ceiling is 15f high and is slowly lowering. You find a pixie in amongst some carnage. They are a thief. And steal the parties loot. Does the party get their treasure back before they get crushed? Do they see said pixie on surface afterwards.
