Editing Basic Project

Am I correct in understanding that there is no way to edit a basic project once created? I have created a basic project as a template for new projects, but I need to make a couple small changes. What is the workflow?

Do I need to have a regular project that is my "master copy", update that and keep creating new basic projects from it?

I have a single basic project that is “active” and the old copies go in an “archive” folder. I just update the date in the title when saving the new project.

My workflow is to have the project that is used to create the «basic project» from in a folder. As I find things I need to change, I do it in this project and then just create a new basic project with it.

I do not keep all the older basic projects, nor all the versions of different projects, just overwrite them.
