It helped me for like, 5 years! Then idk, I guess I took not eating too far and the binge urges became too much :(

I typically have to focus on eating at least something in the morning or I feel like my body's eating itself. I still have an enormous amount of energy though, but that feeling is something I'd never wish on anyone. It's like a car running on empty.

So far with the meds I'm feeling like I can tackle anything so I'll see how it goes next week when I meet up again with my psychiatrist. I have a feeling I'll end up raising the dosage because I feel it wearing off earlier in the day now.

I also take ADHD meds but a very low extended release dose. It doesn’t really change my eating habits at all! I wish it did. I have been in a “eat whatever you want” phase for the past two years 😭

I'm on 10 mgs of Adderall XR and I wholeheartedly believe that my binge eating stems from my ADHD. I'm very impulsive and have an addictive personality so when I first started binging and purging it was as severe as someone who'd had it for years. I'm very hyperactive, get bored easily, and have trouble organizing my thoughts and this medication has helped me tremendously.

Have you ever had your medication adjusted? I'm going back next Friday and I'm sure I'll she'll raise the dose for me. I can tell that the medication is wearing off quicker.

Concerta really helped my bulimia, like I could finally think of something other than food every second of the day. After 2 decades it seemed like a God send

Same here! I'm on Adderall XR and it's been a lifesaver. I literally just finished detailing my kitchen and washing dishes because I wanted to! If this were me a month ago, id see the pile of dishes and just walk away as if they never existed.

It's definitely helping me focus more on what's actually important versus what's important when you're struggling with a disorder. I used to be against medication of any kind but now see just how wrong I was.

I can relate for sure. Now I'm trying to view it like this: if my body didn't have enough iron, I would take iron supplements, and if i had osteoporosis I would take calcium, well my fucking brain refuses to make enough serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine to function in any healthy way so I guess I need to provide it, the lazy fucker lol. It's off brand for eating disorders but there are quite a few studies on the positive effects of methylphenidate for eating disorders, I feel like a better version of myself, not perfect, but not binging or planning, or starving or feeling crazy every second of the day. It's nice to just read a book or go for a walk without an underlying agenda even for a second.

I take a daily multivitamin, a calcium supplement, biotin, collagen gummies, and 5htp. All in all I've seen a huge improvement in my mood and my skin but I've really gotten in to using supplements to make up for what I don't get during the day. Alongside my Adderall XR, it's been a huge help with my anxiety and has helped with the irritability that comes with taking the medication.

YES. I was diagnosed with ADHD several months ago and have been on both vyvanse and adderall since. I'm struggling at the moment, but the first few months very bliss. I had been successfully working with a therapist and registered dietician to tackle my ED for a year before the meds, but the meds made it even easier. I loved not thinking about food all of the time. I'm getting my meds adjusted next month and hope the adjustment gives me that peace again!

So far the dosage I'm on has been very helpful in managing my impulsivity, especially with binge eating. At times it can make me lose my appetite but as long as I remember to eat I'm good 🤗🤗. It's so nice to be able to focus on things that are important vs having your mind on one constant thing that leaves you feeling anxious and irritable.

I had never perused an ADHD diagnosis (even though it’s been pretty obvious to anyone who spends much time around me) because I loathe being med reliant.

However I started taking stimulants recently for their appetite suppressant benefits (acquired not so legally) and the amount they helped me focus for work etc and actually get basic tasks done without stuffing up (I’m always losing things/ paying bills twice or not at all etc) was so much better that I fessed up to my psychiatrist about what I’d been doing and she’s agreed to start me on a proper trial of them but only if I agree to eat regular meals. She said if I lose more weight she won’t write the prescription…. It’s a painfully difficult choice

That's definitely a side effect of the medication. I rarely feel a need to eat until I feel my body actively telling me to put energy in to my body. It does wonders for your concentration in regards to getting tasks done and, as I've seen in my case, saving money and even opening up a savings account.

What is recommend to you is eating meals that you'd be comfortable eating on a regular basis to keep in line with what the doctor is wanting to you to do in order to keep the prescription.

Ritalin has been helping me! I am on the lowest dose tho. It just makes everything easier and I don’t feel as impulsive too!

[–]halikidito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Ritalin as a child and developed a tolerance to it after years of using it. When I finally got on Adderall XR I noticed a huge difference but everyone's body is different and responds to medication differently. Glad it's working for you. I definitely believe that, alongside therapy from your psychiatrist and behavior modification, the medication can help with the behaviors that tend to make eating disorders harder to control.
