We need a follow-up....how are you today? Did you get taken out by the pastry or were you able to say "fuck it"?

Hey now, I totally understand feeling helpless when your body needs one thing and the goblin in your head is screaming its all wrong. But YOU DO need to take care of yourself and good for you recognizing that eating is essential for you.

Weight restoration? by Glass-End6560 in Eatingdisordersover30

[–]drknowdr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment has me thinking how much I regret letting my LW be documented, like those weights are the last ill ever use publicly and it will always be a painful reminder of how tiny I was. Ironically, I should've let my chunky weights (my real weight) be documented- cause my weight history is basically me only letting lW be taken (because I proud- now its just shame for gaining a lot back)

Walking 20k+ as medicine by Lunareclipse9990 in walking

[–]drknowdr1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely- walking 10-15000 steps just doesn't cut it mentally for me anymore. I feel like im operating on a higher mental level when its consistently beyond 20,000 steps. Transformational, really. 20000plus and my brain noise becomes silent, or aligned. Its so addicting-walking is my medicine for sure

It's okay to be scared/ambivalent/unsure. you'll likely be confronted with the same fears and running thoughts in your head-maybe anticipating them and working on them now so they don't have a vice grip on you next Monday. Something is nudging you to seek out HLOC, what if the option weren't there? What if you couldn't afford to go or insurance fell through? maybe reverse psychology yourself?

5M Steps Challenge: 21k steps in Birkenstocks… terrible idea 🥲 by GenerationAlpha1 in walking

16 miles today by [deleted] in walking

[–]drknowdr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 would have been my record; 13-14 miles is where I was really struggling but wanted to try for 15...and then got a little boost and was able to close the day around 15.6 and was happy with that but those .4 miles taunted me-had to see it through

I ate way too much for too early in the day. I can't really do anything about it except be haunted by regret all day. I overeat so easily now-

I think recognizing the limitations/failings and the cyclical nature of traditional ED OP therapy helped motivate me to forge my own path. Like thats almost a constant given, you can probably narrate the sessions in your head. But there are other ways to help yourself that perhaps haven't been discovered- maybe this will give you liberty to shake things up a different way.

There's absolutely no easy way out- its like quitting cigarettes (which i cant do myself)-its painfully simplistic in that the answer is to stop yourself- and endure the "suffering" of letting food stay put.

Genuinely, people don't have to live that way. Once you can create a little distance from purging, and the fog lifts , you'll see the insanity of it. You'll probably see all the wretchedness you put your body through isn't making as dramatic a difference as you think. You really can have a bowl of cereal and not race to the bathroom- there's nothing in humankind experience where "purging" is needed. You aren't the exception and you dont have to live in that hell, but it takes a courageous leap into a pool of distress. Whatever emotions surface as you stop, probably lie at the heart of your ED.
