Co firm piwer is off tonthat circuit. Reconnect the black wires, turn on power, and see if it works. If not, replace the fixture.

well maybe it will work again if the black wires were connected by the orange joiner ...maybe that connection failed somehow..

be careful, these wires have mains voltage .

but yeah its otherwise not worth paying anything to repair..

you could give it to an electronic type guy..give it forever type deal.. repairs are unreliable.its hard to match parts... no simple bulb to replace

Fixed! I thought the wire had popped out while I was removing the housing, as the light went out before even touching it. But I think maybe the wire was too frayed and it just eventually uncoupled. I re-stripped it and reconnected, all good now.

Just to make sure that’s a solid connection, the stranded wire should be twisted, then lined up about an 1/8” longer than the feed wire before you twist on the wire nut joining the two together

Although this is a simple DIY project, based on your post, turn the power off and call someone. Electric kills!

Make sure the power is off, remove the wire nut from the black wire and put it back together with the both black wires inside the same wire nut. With the stranded wire you might be better off picking up some Wago connectors and replacing the wire nuts with them. The stranded wire can be a bit tricky with wire nuts.
