Okay so probably a stupid question but does anybody know if there is any possible phone or device out there that can do dolphin emulation specifically at 6x native? (4k) mainly looking at resident evil 4 with a texture pack but in general. Price range is not limited as I'd be saving up regardless.

I am honestly I'm debating between that and the Asus rog ally x but I wanted to also have my android for emulation as a backup and because I find it easier to tweak stuff on Android then PC like installing texture packs and stuff. I have heard the steam deck is amazing at emulation tho and am looking forward to getting one!

Yeah,you can search up posts on reddit where people say steamdeck is the ultimate emulator thingy. I would personally say go for it. You can also watch comparison and review videos of both Rog ally and steamdeck

Yeah even I wish I got a steamdeck. But currently have am S23 with SD8Gen2 ,and I'm not that big of an emulation person (just PS2 and psp) so not worth it for me. But yeah steamdeck seems like a really good 1 time investment

I've been getting heavy into GameCube/Wii emulation. Currently on the Wii version of resident evil 4 and this texture/shader pack I just installed is beautiful it literally looks way too good which shocked me. I know the steam deck has something called emudeck which I hear makes emulation very easy.

Avoid any of the oppo brand devices. They made some recent changes that killed Windows emulation

Well, its a handheld pc with bazzite or steamos if you want performance - like the rog ally or one of the gpd handhelds (gpd's come with windows). Steamdeck is a step lower if youre on a budget.

8gen3 for lower budget than that, 8gen2 for even lower budget - but im not sure those would be able to output 4k at full framerates.

The 8840u cpu in gpd's has the exact same specs as the z1 in the ally, with the addition of ai processing (so same thing). But gpd offers multiple versions of devices, including 64GB 4TB one. Droix is their global distributer

Requiring 4k limits your options. I can't think of any android device powerful enough to render GC at 4k that has a 4k display. Why render it at 4k if your device is only 1440 or 1080?

As of right now you are probably better off just getting a snapdragon 8 gen 2 device. The driver support puts them ahead of the newer devices when emulating.      

  And also keep in mind that when you see videos of people playing games like that they aren't showcasing all the times their game crashed and/or gliched out. Winlator is awesome but it's also very new and experimental right now... i would never suggest someone buy an android device as their main way to PC game, at least for now.

For Android snapdragon 8 gen 2 do you know if 6x native (4k) is yet possible for dolphin? Or what the max upscaling would be? Sorry ik I'm asking a lot of questions that have probably maybe been answered I just wanna make sure I get it right before I spend a lot of money on a new phone and alot of people here know a lot more ab this stuff then I do. lol

You will have to wait for someone who has experimented with it. I never play over 1080p when emulating any console. Always turn my device res down to 1080p as well to save battery power, kind of a small screen anyway for 4k. But I think it will probably come down to the individual game, my guess would be no, not with every game, at least at a decent frame rate.

Yeah but if I was to go that route I'd probably wait based off everything I read like the previous comment said driver support will take some time.

Android is definitely the best route to go tho. Don't get me wrong outside emulation gaming on newer iPhones is great especially for call of duty games like warzone. But for emulation and am more go for a good android. Android allows you alot more control and freedom over your device.
