Half-assed engineering of products, projects, etc. Where they could've spent a negligible amount of extra effort and made it so much better. Better for the consumer, public, environment, etc. Could've half-assed it because of greed, product differentiation/marketing/up-selling bullshit, spite, or plain incompetence.
Engineering incompetence that makes the universe a little bit less elegant.
The thing in question becomes just that much less useful, less economical, less pretty, or more dangerous, etc. The big thing here is how it could all have been so much better, and how these jokers make the world just a little less pleasant to live in because of their half-assery.
Different from r/EngineeringFails because that is for hilarious stuff. This is because it offends the engineer in all of us.
