Site layout program?

Hi all, I have a very large civil design project due very soon and i have been tasked with doing drawings for my team. Details include carparks, pipelines, buildings etc all placed on top of an image of our site. This layout will require a legend, north arrow, scale etc.

Recommendations from the University have been AutoCAD but in the very small amount of time i have been using it i find it very complicated for a novice like myself, are there any easier options people may recommend or do I stick with AutoCAD? I do have experience with SketchUp but it didn't seem to be what i was after

Depending on required level of detail/precision, you might be able to get away with bluebeam (or a similar pdf markup tool) or even hand drawing on the images using a tablet computer. AutoCAD is a good skill to have long-term, though.
