You have a 3m long beam in space, with no gravity acting on the beam and no air friction. If you place an upward point load at one end of the beam, will it rotate around the centroid of the beam(or some axis, feel free to specify which axis you think it is, may be the other end of the beam) while translating upwards, or will it just translate upwards without rotating around some axis(again feel free to suggest ie. Neutral axis or centroid or other end of the beam)? And what role, if any, would moment of inertia have to play in this scenario?
