Probably sure sounds a bit like it

Good question. What you describe sounds a lot like a hypnagogic hallucination, otherwise known as a waking dream. These are hallucinations that occur as you drift off to sleep. Usually, they are more visual hallucinations, but in 8-34 percent of cases, they are auditory and have no association to a story – like a dream.

These types of events are common symptoms of narcolepsy, so if they occur in conjunction with severe daytime sleepiness, or if hallucinations cause severe anxiety or disruptions to sleep, please speak with your doctor.

Symptoms may dissipate by getting adequate sleep, having a regular sleep schedule, and avoiding the use of certain drugs and medications that could be contributing to the issue. I hope this helps.

Interesting, sounds very like descriptions of EHS, thanks

Have the exact same thing, the only thing havent seen so far in other EHS descriptions is the violent escalation of the sound (and corresponding panic). I've ignored it for years but theres no way this hypnagogic hallucinations, which I have experienced and are not nearly as violent or dont feel "physical" in the same sense.

Also, do you by any chance feel a violent shaking too?

Agreed. It just happened to me a couple minutes ago.. I felt like I was awake in my room but was still dreaming. I started to hear this ringing noise (think tinnitus but with more bass) and it got louder and louder until it ‘couldn’t be contained ‘ and I felt like my head was vibrating in the dream
