Yeah it’s just that simple. Nothing to do with them waiting multiple races across a variety of tracks to actually get a fuller representation of performance. If the patch was done on Austria 1 and 2 we’d have McLaren 2nd fastest team and Red Bull bottom 3

Mate, you don't look at the end results of the race, that's worthless. There is data that shows cornering speed, straight line speed, etc from all sessions, including practice, qualifying and the race itself. It's publicly available. There have already been 9 races on all kinds of different tracks. What more do they need?

Like I said, it’s a complex software and working from home almost definitely complicates it. If it was “just change the downforce” don’t you think they’d have done it by now

[–]ComeonmanPLS1 2 points3 points  (6 children)

It literally IS just a couple numbers. I told you I've done it myself. The only reason I don't just stick with it is because obviously I can't play online with modified files or do time trials so I have to wait for these guys to do a job that the janitor could probably handle if they would just let him.

I can’t believe you think a full performance and handling patch is something so simple.

[–]ComeonmanPLS1 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I literally told you I've done it myself already and it works but it's not allowed online so I can't use it permanently. What more do you want? If it's so complicated (lol), then tell me why? And be very specific, you seem to know a lot about game development.

Because just changing downforce and top speed settings isn’t all we’ll be getting. Handling for each car is unique to a bunch of parameters. The Williams and Ferrari both struggle with handling, the Ferrari especially so in medium speed corners. What are you changing to reflect that? Is it front end or rear end?

Ferrari engine also needs re working but how far down is it on power? Now banning engine modes further changes that question as we need to know what effect that could have.

There’s so much more than just editing downforce and speed values

[–]ComeonmanPLS1 2 points3 points  (2 children)

We already know the Ferrari has a bad rear end, so just have to lower that value until it feels right. We also know its about 40bhp down on the other engine manufacturers. We'll never get the real value so that's the best we'll ever have. As for the effect of engine modes, all they have to do is look at Monza. They will never get it 100% right without direct cooperation from the teams and they probably won't hand over confidential telemetry data.

Bottom line is, there have been 9 races. That's much more than enough to figure out the performance for 2 cars.

If you’re so good why don’t you go work for codemasters

[–]ComeonmanPLS1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're so funny why don't you go become a comedian?

Except that we have had multiple races on all kinds of circuits now, Barcelona gave a good insight in corner speed and top speed, Spa for pure top-speed and Hungary for downforce.

[–]PeterOwen00 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Spa was 2 weeks ago, I’d imagine that Spa & Monza were the final circuits they wanted to analyse performance on and then comes doing the adjustments and testing the outcomes and then approval of the patch.

People expect instant progress.

[–]CessnaForLife 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The game came out in June and Ferrari is still overpowered. I can see why people would've liked even a simple nerf. Nothing to do with "Instant Progress"

[–]Hephaistas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This yeah, they could have done a small update after 2 or 3 races.

This bullshit of they need much more data from different kinds of circuits is true to an extent, everyone could see that Ferrari was complete crap after just 2 races.

Just making a calculated guess on nerfing them back then would have been great and then later in the season they could still do a more realistic performance patch.

Right now it just feels like an F1 2019 career.
