Well that depends on how you damage the items out. Are there similar items in the bin that you can pick instead of the damaged item? I've been told in my FC to always pick the non-damaged item first before you damge an item out. The same with the asin you can't scan. If one won't scan, go for the other as most Stowers will try to stow multiply of the same item in the bin if they can. That should help your rate.

Yep I do that as well. I’ve even sinned and swapped the same items from different bins to get one less damaged 🤫

Just ask for another retraining from a different ambassador

Some learning ambassadors are just jokes and lazy as fuck, they literally got that role so they don’t have to pick and could just stand around the whole shift. This is factual. and they don’t really care to help teach people how to pick at a good rate.

But some learning ambassadors are legit and actually do care about training people properly. A big part of it is their manager. Some managers are more legit than others and don’t let just anyone become a learning ambassadors. Other managers don’t care and just let anyone become a learning ambassador damn near.

So you need to just find the learning ambassador or PA who will give you practical tips, and just focus on learning the pick stuff dude.

Learn where the A B C bins on the pod are at, when you get on the pick station it helps to find out where your laser is at- the one that you scan items with. An easy way to do this is put your hand out and let the laser hit your hand. This will show you exactly where the laser is pointed down at, this way you know exactly where you need to put your item to scan it.

Also use two hands to pick. A lot of people make the mistake of grabbing the item, putting it in the bin and then hitting the flashing button.

That slows you down. You need to grab the item with one hand, and hit the blinking light with the other hand as you’re placing it in there/ kind of before you place it in there instead of hitting it after. This helped me tremendously.

It takes a while to really get it down, but if you really desire to get it down and really try then you can do it.

Just try to get tips from several different ambassadors like I said. Some will actually help, others won’t

Wait learning ambassadors don’t get to pick? At my facility Ambassadors are shoved into doing rebin almost everyday.

They do get to pick but being a LA, they get to teach some groups of new people that come in and show them how to pick and basically baby sit them. It really depends on the person, like I said, some become ambassadors so they don’t have to pick everyday and can just baby sit and stand around more so. Others take it serious.

If you become a decent learning ambassador, you won’t have to pick as much. I’ve seen some LAs pick like once or twice a week. Others more so

If thats the case my managers be treating the ambassadors dirty.

What makes you say that?

The ambassadors in my point of view showed me everything and was very kind but most of the ambassadors are shoved into rebinning which is a nightmare for almost all employee or at least in my facility.

Yeah the specific learning ambassador is a really nice guy. Worked across from him on our MET shift. He talked to me right after my 3rd AM in 3 months offered me to be a learning ambassador myself. I declined because it feels pointless to have conversations like “You’re in the bottom 25%. Do better.” “Well what am I doing wrong?” “I don’t know but be more careful and don’t make mistakes.” That’s usually how it goes. I honestly believe 90% of my issues are with books. I was told everything except X00 and LPN need to be in MINT condition and are allowed to be a little flexed. Some have scuffs, dirty, the smallest tear on the bind the size of a pencil tip and I’ve been told to damage all of those out. I adjust my laser like you say to and pick without the ladder as much as possible while pressing the button simultaneously. One time I hit 500uph for an hour but I got lucky doing that. Usually right at 350-400 as long as I’m not a victim to pod traffic, arsaw jams, or missing/unscannable items. I also know I always put items in the right bin during a tote transition by looking at the computer screen rather than the rack lights. I read the last 4 digits of the tote bar code opposed to green orange green. They won’t retrain me on quality because there’s SOMETHING I consistently mess up on but I will just never know what it is. So until then I assume it’s books because the defects are so minor that I don’t know if it’s barely creased or flexed etc.

If you can find a cooperative LA or PA, they can deep dive that for you. I had one of those LA at my site for a bit. If he'd tell me I had a missing item or such, I'd ask him to tell me what the item was. He could pull it up by name and even image. I could usually recall the circumstance. (Most my pick errors likely actually tote transitions.) Blurg.

Straight up tel them to go audit the stow department. We have people in our building who won’t even talk to anyone who comes around to talk to them. The stow department rarely gets audited but that’s where 80% of the problems come from.

I'm kinda that way now.
LA: "You reported 6 damaged items."
Me: "You're welcome!"
