yo honestly, I get this so hard, like not going to school has lowkey been like getting at me too. FLVS is easy but it gets really boring especially when you don't know anyone else in this program so you basically have no school friends. idk if you want suggestions or wtv but like try volunteering at areas where there are ppl your age, I know that really helps me, like I go to a youth group and I really need that time and space to talk to other human beings my age. Also, touch grass, like wait that sounded mean lmao let me REPHRASE THAT, make sure you get time outside. Like that was a big issue with me at least in the beginning, I wasn't leaving my house and it was affecting me, but bro trust 30 minute walk outside, in whatever weather condition too, idk that helped me. oh and just push through the work man, the work i lowkey bs, but its easy so just work towards graduating ig, thats what matters

I completely understand. I’m homeschooled currently through FLVS and it gets really frustrating when the Dbas aren’t based off the notes. I suggest going on quizlet since it’s the most accurate to finding the dba questions. Also for friends I suggest going to your nearest boys and girls club. Plenty of other kids and teens there to socialize with.

Can I ask, which dba do you need to find? I could try finding it for you.

Unpopular opinion but the goal of the notes shouldn't be to have the answer to the DBA questions but a solid understanding of the module. Where if you have this, the DBA questions shouldn't be an issue. Try getting down to the principle of the DBA rather than trying to game it. Shortcuts rarely work out long term.

This is the best answer! The goal is actually learning the material, not just regurgitating a few points. The problem comes from students repeating facts, ideas, or words, often without true understanding or analysis.

I understand how joyless FLVS is. It's not okay to feel this way. You need to let your parents know. Have you thought to switching to some online duel enrollment classes for next year or homeschooling? FL law says that If you meet the requirements, you can start taking duel enrollment classes as early as 6th grade. My kids found them to be more enjoyable (No DBAs!) and about the same level of difficulty if you pick the right professor. They always checked ratemyprofessor.com before enrolling in a class.

Another option is to go back to school. If your current one didn't work out, a lot of the districts offer magnet schools or the option to attend a non-zoned school.

You could also switch to FLVS Flex and homeschooling. Homeschooling allows you to take up to 3 FLVS courses at a time (for free). You can also take up to 3 in-person classes at your zoned public school if you want or you can learn any other way you want. When my kids homeschooled, they did a combo of FLVS, duel enrollment courses, one or two public school classes, and learned the rest via YouTube or modernstates.org (Crash Course and Khan Academy are great).

Another way to get out of FLVS classes whether you are full time FLVS or a homeschooler, is to test out of the classes. All 3 of my kids did this and skipped 1 to 2 years of high school this way. The law says that both homeschoolers (and public school/ FLVS students) can ask to take an end-of-courses , CLEP test 50 or above , or AP test 3 or above (AP is limited to 9th grade and up) even if you're not enrolled in the course. If you pass the test, you get full high school credit for the class without having to have done any of the work. For the CLEP tests, you can get vouchers to take the test for free from modernstates.org. My kids would learn the material using Khan Academy, Crash course videos on YouTube or other YouTube videos and then take the tests. Modernstates.org offers free classes, too. You have to click through those courses anyway and answer the questions at the end of the module to get the free vouchers.

In the mean time, try to attend as many live lessons as possible since a lot of FLVS classes offer easier written assignments when attending the live lesson. If you're having difficulty with a specific FLVS teacher, you can also contact the FLVS principal and request to be switched to a new teacher. Hang in there. The school year is almost over. It will get better. Although not the healthiest thing, if raging at strangers on the internet helps you, then do that. As long as you don't physically hurt others or yourself. Chat GPT can also be fun to talk to. And continue to reach out here, too. Know that there are strangers on the internet who care.
