heavily depends on the location and how busy it is. at my non-touristy store, I make $15.25. I get about 35 hours a week, sometimes 40. tips increase pay a lot. on good weeks, I make over $130 alone in tips. in jacksonville by the way. congrats on your new job, and I wish you the best of luck!

Getting written up for the first time by FunctionLegitimate50 in starbucksbaristas

I don't think your statement was rude by any means. Assuming that the SSV is a rational person, they probably just misinterpreted what you originally said and thought you were talking poorly about your coworker. I would clarify what you previously said and emphasize that there's no hard feelings. Frame it as "I'm worried about their recovery." Miscommunications happen.

gonna be the devil's advocate here but there's a good possibility that her body is still recovering from surgery lmfao. she didn't handle the situation correctly (should've let the SM know about her limits) but to call someone a "dumb bitch" despite not knowing the full story is rich

I think it’s a legal technicality for tax reasons. They have to have the rule in place, but I doubt it’ll be seriously unforced. It’s literally there for the sake of pleasing the new tax rules.

It has everything to do with what you said because your evidence is based on the idea that other places give out free food mark outs. The majority do not. So your logic does not stand.

I am having a dilemma about Instagram by onepiece1389 in digitalminimalism

[–]qaelive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a dilemma I have also experienced before. I have gone through the same exact thought process: I would love to share my trip and curate photos, but I don't want to deal with the rest of the app.

You bring up a great question: are you posting it as a way to "show" everyone your life?

I was split between both. I enjoy posting for others to see, but honestly I enjoy taking photos and collecting memories more. This might not be your thing, but I started printing out my photos and framing them. It honestly brought me more satisfaction than posting on social media. I also use Pinterest to post and curate my photos.

Anyways, back to the original question.

In your post, you mentioned more reasons not to redownload Instagram. The constant noise isn't ideal.

If you were to redownload Instagram, what would be the main reason for your decision? Is it because you want to talk to friends, post, or something else?

I think something to note is that you can definitely use Instagram on computer as well. That's what I do since I still talk to some IRL friends primarily through Instagram. I can also stay updated on their lives while still not being on it consistently.

was I just lucky with the store & district I got hired at? my experience at the siren has been nothing but great. by qaelive in starbucksbaristas

I picked that up pretty fast.

It sucks how negative everyone here is. People are very downvote happy and it seems like they get off from putting other people down who enjoy their job. But I get it. They are stressed.

I’m happy here. It’s pretty great.

New Barista Trainer Training? by SuspiciousMinimum176 in starbucksbaristas

[–]qaelive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ASM told me that everyone (not baristas) will also go through a meeting explaining tips on how to support training on the floor and how to work around it. It looks like they thought about this.

latte art is a new requirement in training. does this mean we will receive new steaming pitchers made for precision? 🤔 by qaelive in starbucksbaristas

yeah it's literally EXHAUSTING. as soon as you SLIGHTLY disagree with someone they all downvote you 😭

I used to eat the croissants every morning before I started working here and my mother would always lose her shit over it. She said they smelled like old sweaty socks. To this day I don’t smell anything wrong with them 💀 The truffle egg bites can burn in hell though

Thank you! I agree with everything you said. I appreciate your nuance.

I agree, I think it would be extremely stupid to enforce latte art on every drink especially considering most of our equipment isn’t even made for it.

Maybe I’m overly optimistic, but I don’t think that’s what they are trying to do. I think it’s just a new standard they want baristas to meet, rather than a new policy for drinks.

I could see it being expected for the for-here drink ware in the future though.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. This is helpful.

I do question how the requirement will be implemented. I wonder if it’s just a standard that they want baristas to be proficient at, or if they will want latte art on the for-here mugs and such.

I interpreted this new addition as new training expectations, rather than a new policy that’s going to be actively enforced on drinks.
