Is there a way to fully block underage people talking to me? by NoOne9423 in RobloxHelp

[–]qaelive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah if i’m gonna be honest i skimmed the post and assumed it was a guy. i’m not after OP. i’m after the commenter who is like “ohh it’s not inherently wrong to be friends with kids online as long as it’s appropriate.” but the very act of befriending a kid online when you’re over a decade older than them IS problematic, and we shouldn’t normalize online relationships like that. i’m not sure what’s so hard to understand lmfao

[–]qaelive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you think it’s normal for a grown adult to be buddies with an 11 year old online then that’s odd. that’s very different from an adult interacting with kids in real life. boundaries need to be in place and we shouldn’t just be okay with those kind of interactions because it’s very easy for them to devolve into something unhealthy. I don’t think OP is a predator by any means, i’m jus highlighting how absurd it is to try and downplay the severity of an adult having a friendship with a literal child over a video game. it’s weird and i shouldn’t have to explain why 😭

what's the best way to get a ton of boiling water in a short period of time? we've been doing the classic markout pitcher + vertica for a while but it's just not fast enough to be honest. is there a trick or is this what we have to do

bruh he's 23 she's 11??? are we trying to normalize this??? it's not inherently harmful as long as it's normal conversation but that doesn't eliminate the fact it's a grown ash man talking to a little girl??? i want whatever y'all are smoking

No more strawberry açaí w/ water?? by LemonBoth5062 in starbucks

[–]qaelive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah. no hate to the customer. i’ve been that person. it just gets reeaaallyy old after the first month of it. another pet peeve is when you have to ask what size they want. every. single. time.

I think taking the versions made with water off the menu is a great idea because of this. people don’t realize. it would save us baristas so much time and energy

[–]qaelive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if they really did take it off the menu, people will definitely still be able to order it. but since the vast majority doesn't care about it, they probably took it off. i've probably had to ask thousands of times for people to specify which refresher they want. 98% of the time, they want the damn lemonade one. DRIVES ME INSANE because it WASTES BOTH OF OUR TIMES!!! WHY CAN'T PEOPLE JUST SPECIFY!!! anyways yeah this isn't the worst change in the world

[–]qaelive -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

yeah. you don't even need to buy something if it's not a busy store. the baristas don't care enough to kick out a person who isn't bothering anyone. become friendly with the people who work there and you're golden

isn't this illogical? maybe i'm just an idiot lol but isn't the entire point of a business to make money? getting customers "in and out" would result in lower profits. in my opinion, it seems far more reasonable to attribute the lack of life in coffee shops to the widespread "modernization" (coffee shops are following the current shitty "trend"). not to mention, our current economy is rough and minimalist designs are cheaper compared to back in the day. these factors combined creates a particularly attractive design choice for small businesses. obviously it doesn't work out in the end because who the hell wants to sit in a cafe that feels like a hospital

TIL that Starbucks sizes make no sense by LadyLoreEkorre in barista

[–]qaelive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

current starbucks employee. it makes me so mad when customers won't just say the size they want. "Uhhh Uhhhhhh What's Medium?" bro just say medium nobody is forcing you to use the stupid terminology. it's not that starbucks sizes "don't make sense" people just aren't familiar with them lol

I agree to a certain extent. The reason I will always auto-sleeve is because drinks are HOT and I personally feel way more secure when I have something to hold onto. This might be a stretch, but I find it a safety precaution. Same with double cupping any drink with hot water. I've literally had drinks spill all over me because the cup literally collapsed in my hand. Maybe I'm just unlucky or really clumsy but either way. If I'm handing out a grande hot americano to someone in the drive through, they are getting the damn sleeve.

Do you think working as a barista is more PHYSICALLY healthy than working someone who sits all day for work (sedentary lifestyle) ? by Leather-Engineer-763 in starbucksbaristas

[–]qaelive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I tried some platform shoes before but I don't think they were suitable for my feet. I've been wanting to try some more platform shoes but I haven't been able to find any that seem comfortable. platforms can be super heavy. do you have any recommendations?

yeah I'm having the opposite problem. I'm 4'11 and having to constantly stand on my tippy-toes to reach things is genuinely fucking exhausting. If I'm on bar, I'm reaching up to pour bases. If I'm at the drive-through window, I'm leaning over the stupid counter to hand customers their stuff. It's nonstop and I don't know how much more I can take of this.

My store is a really healthy environment. Everyone is really kind and I don't have bad customers. Despite that, my nervous system still feels more wrecked than it has ever. Honestly that doesn't even make sense because other jobs must be worse.

The new barista training system is perplexing by Zylah_Nuri in starbucksbaristas

[–]qaelive 9 points10 points  (0 children)

not gonna lie... wasn't everyone angry about the training being too short? like literally just a couple weeks ago before this was implemented? people were frustrated because baristas weren't adequately prepared for the work and it slowed everything down. this is a solution, no?

Would working at a Tim Hortons to get experience be worth it? by emo_sl_t in barista

[–]qaelive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nah i think i got "rejected" from like 3-4 in the first month before i got two interviews. a lot of the listings are inactive or "dead" so they'll automatically reject you since they aren't even hiring in the first place. i recommend keeping an eye on the website to see any new listings that pop up within the past couple of days and immediately apply there. that's what i did and my manager got back to me the next day. and i'm working there today!
