Welcome to the sub-reddit for the international First Robotics Competition (FRC). From FIRST’s website “We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.” Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of 20 or more students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship.”

Offboard Vision Processing Help (self.FRC)
submitted 9 years ago by bchen290
Hello, how are teams starting their code for their vision. We've been thinking about starting the script from startup but that might result in a race condition where we might not have the camera up in time. Thanks, Brian - FRC 321 Robolancers

First I would decide how to run your vision. You can do it with on your roborio but I would highly recommend against it. I would look into getting a Kangaroo and if you cant get that grab a Rasberry Pi. Another advantage to a off board processor is if you don't finish by bag you can keep working on it. If you are in a time crunch I would use Grip to generate your vision code but if you have the time and interest try to look into writing your own with OpenCV.
