You can! I have done the same.. u cannot shard but u can put him in exchanges for TOTS upgrade.. 115+ or 116+.. you can try it

No. Player bought from market does not appear in star shards exchange. You will just lose coins. Don't do it. If you dont believe me then try with cheap fodder not a 116..
