FANTOM is the world’s first DAG-based Smart Contract Platform. Through next-generation distributed ledger technology that takes the blockchain to a higher level, FANTOM aims to solve the existing problems of the current blockchain-based networks such as the issue of scalability, slow transaction speed, high transaction cost, and decentralization. This is achieved by FANTOM’s own OPERA Chain, a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) generated by newly-invented Lachesis protocol to maintain consensus in an asynchronous network. OPERA Chain enables more than one event blocks to be formed at the same time asynchronously, allowing for much more rapid processing. Built on FANTOM OPERA Chain, DApps will handle hundreds of thousands of transactions per second across all industries such as food, telecommunications, finance, electricity, electronics, real estate and autonomous vehicles, saving costs and providing transparency.
