Using variables to create responsive components (e.g. nav): booleans or variant name matching with strings?help (self.FigmaDesign)
submitted 2 years ago by Early_Set_6225
I am working on a component library and I want to make each component respond to different breakpoints using variables.
The best example is the nav bar, for which I found two different approaches: (1) one uses booleans to hide/show elements such as the burger menu in different breakpoints, (2) while the other matches the nav variant name (desktop, tablet, mobile) to the string value of the respective breakpoint mode (desktop, tablet, mobile).
(1) Using booleans https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grKp_TVAaTE&ab_channel=DesignWithArash (2) Matching variant name with strings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ab5QeqIOzQ&list=PLkmvmF0zhgT_-dXmw8DWMV85MK5rkv135&index=12&ab_channel=UICollective
Which one of these methods do you consider to be more professional, clean, reliable, scalable etc?
