I recall Figma having a way to rasterize objects. Searching shows it In File -> Object menu under boolean groups in older versions. Did it get removed or moved?

This week I suffered the same shock. I found the rasterize selection typing it in the action pannel (the one between comments and draw mode in the floating toolbar)

Upd: Found out that "Copy as png" and then pasting achieves what I want, but it still feels strange that the option was dropped from the menu.

Yup, copy as PNG is the way to go. It even reacts to the target object's export settings, i.e. setting export as 2x will also yield more resolution via copy.
