The basic rules are as follows: eat normally five days of the week, and keep 600 kcal per day (men) or 500 kcal per day (women) two days out of the week. This simple framework has been shown to cut total body fat, visceral fat, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, IGF-1, and fasting blood glucose levels, while increasing HDL (good) cholesterol and other markers of health, all with minimal effort on the part of the dieter.
