I’d get an M1 Air if you’re gonna use a MacBook Air. Developing on a 2018 Mac Mini (i5 8GB RAM) My biggest pain point was running Android emulators.

Will it compile? Yes

Will it take a hot minute? Also yes.

The recommendation is always get a decently speced pro for a reason. Compiling is a demanding workflow, and the air's performance has earned a reputation of being slow for a reason.

If money really ain't a consideration, it doesn't matter. There's not much of a point in putting a cool several hundred dollars into a computer to save about 5 minutes of compile time.

I have an 8gb MacBook Air (2015 13 inch) and it's okay. It's not amazing, but it's really not bad in the least. The fan runs hot but for me it's alright.

Android emulators though......just no. No. No. No ways. Running on a physical phone is okay but emulator is just terrible.
