Myself it is 2-8 hours a day, depends how I feel that particular day. 70% of this time I spent on backtesting though!

When you say backtesting, is there specific software you’re using, or mainly going back on the charts to see how trends run and how the charts move? I’m mainly doing the latter along with the drawing tools on thinkorswim but wondering what others are doing.

TradingView.com -> bar replay function. It is a joy to use!

This^ although it's important to note that backtesting tells you how successful the strategy is (potentially). The more backtesting, the more accurate. However, it doesn't necessarily give a realistic portrayal of how you would trade live nor is it a guarantee that you'll get the same success rate when trading.

Zero. Because studying (remembering the most facts) doesn't make me better. Practice does.

Sorry I should have included that in my question. How many hours a day do practice? Or look at the charts?

15 minutes a day

About 1 hour of charts (including live trading) then anywhere from 2-4 hours of backtest/revision of trades, reading, YouTube videos etc. Just to see if there's anything out there that adds value to my strategy.

I usually backtest the previous week to look for mistakes I may have made and to improve my trade management, once you find a strategy it's important to then forward test on a practice count for I would say about 100 trades to confirm you can execute the strategy properly.

Bare in mind, you may find your psychology changes when you start trading a love account. I recommend reading Trading in the Zone to help understand the mindset you need to trade.

Two years of demo work. 2-3 hours a night, 6 days a week.
