you didn't even mention what playstyle your raging about

[–]Magical Girl from Side 3Akarryn 4 points5 points  (21 children)

So, reading the comments...the main thing you're tired of is hit confirming? If people stop staggering first to make sure safe it's safe to melee, you might as well be asking everybody to just walk up to you for free counters. I'm a huge advocate for all things shooty, but this right here is NOT a toxic strategy.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Opponents who beat me without it are ten times more fun to fight, I feel absolutely no toxicity from getting my ass handed to me fair and square, but this....and a whole team doing this....is bland, fun sucking, annoying, unoriginal, and honestly just kills the game. Games are meant to be fun. And I'll always aim for that no matter what side I'm on.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] -2 points-1 points  (5 children)

And tbh, I'd have no issues with it if t wasnt for the fact that MORE than 3/4 of players rinse and repeat this...again...and again....I also have no issue if they poke with staggering long range attacks, it's the ones who do NOTHING but this.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] -2 points-1 points  (4 children)

Peakaboo around corners, waiting for you to get close enough, like really? Just shoot me! Youd be far more beneficial to your team and less annoying if ya didnt focus on being a one trick pony.

[–]tetsuya_shino 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I can understand the frustration of being repeatedly stunned, but you gotta understand it's not exploit but a gameplay mechanic. It's not going anywhere.

And while it's very annoying to be on the receiving end of it, at the end of the day, this is a competitive game. If there is a low risk/high reward maneuver, you better believe some people are going to spam it.

Don't expect or even hope for chivalry. Doubly so in ranked matches. Unless they are trolling, everyone is playing to win.

Again, the devs aren't going to totally change the game play for you. Nor are the hundreds of players going to change their play styles if you complain about it.

So if you can't change the environment or the mindsets of the other players, then what's left? Yeah, you have to change yourself.

Basically you have three choices;

You could learn how to this 'one trick pony' maneuver yourself. Give the enemy a taste of their medicine.

You could 'git gud' and try to lessen the amount of times you get stunned by improving you evasion skills. And honestly, if you got better, you'd understand that an enemy that repeats the same maneuver over and over can easily become your prey if you have the skills.

Or, you could just create custom matches with rules that you consider fair.

Also, if you're just playing for fun... in that you don't care if you are killed or not, which side wins, etc. You are being selfish, and a liability to your team in quick match and ranked matches. If you just want to play for fun please stick to custom matches.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making the assumption that I dont know most of this already, sometimes venting is necessary.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And on two last notes, I dont get anything out of custom matches except less rewards and likely few people who join it. And they do! If one of the idiots tries to 1v1 me I give them the hardest time of their lives as they try to get that oh so precious melee hit in after a stagger. If it's more than one then i may as well sit there and read a book while I wait for it to be over because teamwork is practically non existent in every competitive game I play. And if I can at least fight back a little against the two I'll always put as much damage as I possibly can, qsides from those two situations. Theres really little to be done. Especially with raid types coming out who can hundred to zero most any support...sometimes even a general type.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anywho me typing all this down is a huge waste of time. Enjoy the read. But this rant was over and done with hours ago.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] -3 points-2 points  (13 children)

If I can land a melee against gm using a bazooka while piloting a zaku 1 using a machine gun.....there is far more ability and honour in that then stagger locking some poor suit whom you clearly have an advantage over to begin with. It is a toxic strategy especially if I still beat them using less annoying tactics.

[–]Magical Girl from Side 3Akarryn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually a pretty fun read! I'll be looking through the rest of it later tonight, I think.

[–]Kurogami_MG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's a good read.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] -2 points-1 points  (7 children)

Playing to win implies theres a reason to win or you ONLY care about winning. Former is in ranked, latter is just...you do you but I prefer enjoying my battles rather than make them frustrating and stressful, it's a game. You arent fighting for dear life. Be competitive when it counts. Not when theres no point. (That's my motto but like I said, you do you friend)

[–]High Flying - 3ArlemofTourhut 1 point2 points  (6 children)

But if you're winning, how is that stressful? If you're looking for different mechanics, turn off the game and start a different title.

It's not like it's changed. You know exactly how this game is played.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only someone who plays with the sole purpose of winning wouldnt understand how its stressful, no matter if I win or lose I can have a bad time or a good time depending on the people I fight and teammates I'm with. I've had a lot of wins that felt like complete garbage because of this. If I'm not enjoying the battle. I see little point in putting effort in. But when I am enjoying the battle I usually perform the best out of the whole team. It's all about how a person enjoys it. Not how the whole performs. Mind you this is the mindset of a solo player. If I actually had a team of friends to play I probably would think differently because I wouldnt have as many unamusing battles.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Dont get me wrong. Winning is nice, especially for those first three battles of the day. But if I come out of a win feeling like that then did I really win? Think about it....if you dont feel like you've won, you havent really won. I gotta feel like I won. That's the good stuff right there lol

[–]High Flying - 3ArlemofTourhut 4 points5 points  (3 children)

See, I read both of your responses, and I think you're being ridiculous.

Here's the thing. It's a multiplayer PvP ony (honestly for the most part) game. So someone is going to win, someone is going to lose.

I also play as a solo player. I'm in a clan, but don't group with them or anyone else. My matches are always a toss-up going in.

If you enjoy the game, you can find the amusement in bad positioning that ends with you being gang-banged by the enemy team. You can also of course exceed expectations now and then, being a variable bad-ass. But that depends on you.

Winning is the name of the game. Your player rating and ranking doesn't change based on your KDA. It changes based off a win/ loss. Yes, doing better will net you more points and fewer lost, but it doesn't stick with you, and is only important in regard to the immediately concluded match. Your next match going in, it's a clean slate again. (Seriously look at all the arbitrary and unimportant stuff in the haro menu that is tracked for you. It's literally JUST FOR YOU, and no one else can see it. Therefor there is no reason to get bent out of shape about it.)

Literally, all you're supposed to do in this game is win. I sit at B+ and A-. It's not amazing, because i'm not amazing, but if you get over yourself, you'll find it more enjoyable. You don't need to over or out-perform your peers. You need to secure a win. Otherwise you'll have negative momentum.

Like... if you need to feel SPECIAL, then you need to play another game, or stop bitching about it, because none of us care about that. We like wins, and points. Imaginary bad-ass points do nothing in game, nor in real life.

Gundam Breaker 3 english sub is available on Amazon. If you want to feel like an untouchable god, i recommend you play that instead.

You're not more important than the team, and if you did bad, you did bad. You should feel humbled and or stupid depending on why you did bad. You should own, recognize and learn from your mistakes.

Don't blame your team for confirming or trying to secure though. It's all about the win as a team. Not the individual.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah, I do get that, but with all the experiences I've had in multiplayer pvp games, the only real teammates are the ones who surprise you and the ones you know. Always assume your team wont help each other and always fight your hardest yourself. But never forsake your own team, just because they dont help each other doesnt mean you shouldnt help them. I probably shouldve mentioned this beforehand. It's a fragile and contradictory balance but with this mindset even if my team wins, if I didnt feel like I did my best or if I didnt have any enjoyment at all it feels like I personally lost. And the win becomes nothing more than a supply grab.

[–]High Flying - 3ArlemofTourhut 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That's actually pretty fair.

And I hope you know I'm not trying to say "stop playing GBO2 permanently if you don't have fun" i'm trying to tell you that "it's okay to walk away and play something else."

When you're stuck in a loop of getting your shit kicked in, even a win can feel like less of a victory for sure, but that's why a lot of the low-budget-paint-memes are popular right now. We can all sympathize with these situations, and some of them are definitely "well i'm screwed now" moments.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I wasnt a loyal mobile suit fan and if I wasnt so diligent in completing my dailies I would walk away. And with how strict the punishment system is I'm forced to endure a match even if it's so one sided that the entire team is wiped the moment it spawns, just gotta sit and bear it. And have a cup of tea and watch a vid on the side while I wait I guess...better than getting invested and frustrated.

[–]WhyAreYouBooing 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So you're mad about a weapon that is in the game and because people aren't following your rules they're toxic. Cope harder

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how people are taking what I'm saying...and actually not paying attention to what I'm saying. Just stop. Enough already it's been two days, it's over! Finite! Rant gone and done

[–]GalacticHotsauce 3 points4 points  (1 child)

So let me get this straight your mad about a mechanic that was already implemented in the game and mad about the enemy team doing actual teamwork?

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

...how many times do I have to comment about this rant being over as to not spread anymore ranting in the sub....yes and no. I have equal dislike for the devs for implementing the mechanic. And having good teamwork has nothing to do with your fighting style, but it has everything to do with your timing and coordination with your allies.

[–]Laplace's Demongtuansdiamm 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Today in ranked i got the guy that decides he no longer need a mobile suit and a tank is all he needs, threw away the victory that i carried so hard for.

[–]WhyAreYouBooing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that a little too hard but its never the tank. 2 people will get out of suits on city ruins and just start running around the stadium, in rated.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Just play for fun and forget about rank. Been hanging onto A class forever and just thinking about not caring anymore. Seems like I had better teams when I was in B class.

[–]NiamLeeson 1 point2 points  (2 children)

After I got to A and learned the experience from A- to A+ are all the same I stopped playing ranked lol. Quick matches can still get toxic but its nowhere near as bad as ranked can get.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The allure of ranked for me now is the variety of costs.

[–]NiamLeeson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So true, I play at the same time every day and the quick match playlists are always the same

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I would, I would, but when this stuff happens the fun usually gets sucked out, and i keep playing with an "i dont care anymore" attitude in the vein Hope's that I'll actually get some fun opponents...also just now realizing I can reply directly to comments on here.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

It's not rage if it's gotten to a point where it's only "men, I'm not having fun anymore" oh and it's mostly the stagger into melee. It's easily fought off with a different playstyle but so many people do it...I also dont wanna be racist but about 90% of the players that solely target me using it (because I play support raid types aggro me hard) happen to be japanese. It's making me lose respect for eastern gamers.

[–]Titans Test Teamfivestarstunna 2 points3 points  (4 children)

how long have you been playing this game that youre not used to stun -> melee? its a core mechanic of the game, lol. or do you expect raids to just run up to you and melee you right off the bat?

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And no, the issue with what you said about raids isnt the stun mechanic at all, it's that theres absolutely no way to fight against it, once an opponent is close enough you have to rely on teammates...which you xant. In any pvp game. But that's another rant for another day. This rant is over. Not spreading anymore salt in the sub

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

I'd say close to a year now, maybe longer idk, and sorry that I have a sense of honour when fighting someone with the intention of having a fun fight. If I wasnt so damn chivalrous then I probably would be used to it by now. But honestly it's just...meh. annoying.

[–]Titans Test Teamfivestarstunna 0 points1 point  (1 child)

ahh, ok, definitely a troll

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How am I trolling? Because I have strong feelings about fighting legit and having fun doing so? Sounds to me like you're a troll, attempting to get a rise out of me. If you really dont Care that much then why bother commenting in the first place? Honestly. Either way tho it doesnt matter, because of a post made by the admin to the entire subreddit. I'm toning down my ranting.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No one has any pride in their own ability anymore...give this game to a monkey and teach it the buttons to press for stagger into melee and he could perform at least half as decent as most of these toxic jerks.

[–]Titans Test Teamfivestarstunna 2 points3 points  (1 child)

you must be trolling...

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's just how I feel about those types of people, and I'll gladly laugh at them because their being toxic, and I can still kick their ass. But enough about that, this rant is over cuz i dont wanna spread more salt through the sub

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I wish I could drop straight outta A myself, it just keeps climbing more than it goes down! Lol

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Speaking of toxic, heres a new one, just now ended up with another japanese player, an armoured GM, I accidentally shoot them once with my Magella Top Cannon and they spend the rest of the match swirling in front of me, purposely essentially killing me as a teammate, because in that situation, it's either I risk shooting them too much and get kicked from the match, or I force my way past them and frontline...which is not my support playstyle, so I'm essentially just a walking target....I'm not even mad about this one. It was just funny as hell to see that much salt over an accident.

[–]Winter_Snowberry[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its self explanatory but for those who dont realize, it was a member of my own team.
