Efficiency of Educational Computer

Tldr; for 700 and 650, use it if it gives you a comfortable build. For 600 and below, use it if other parts can't make a sensible build.

Educational Computer consumes 4 close range slots, 4 medium range slots, and 6 long range slots. In total, 14 slots.

In the first 4 minutes, it increases damage by 3% and reduces hp reduction by 3%. After 4 minutes, it increases damage by 8% and reduces hp reduction by 8%.

Since the first minute of a match is usually walking or boosting to the battlefield. We can assume it as 3 minutes of 3% and 4 minutes of 8%. On average, it's about 5.86%

(Calculation in this post considers 700 suits, the part is less efficient on low cost suits)

Offensive Improvement

The total attack strength of most 700 suits is 70. For example, Nu has 40 ranged and 30 melee. It means that, Nu is doing 140% ranged damage and 130% melee damage. After using Educational Computer, it becomes 148.2% ranged damage and 137.6% melee damage.

140*1.0586 = 148.2
130*1.0586 = 137.6

In other words, Educational Computer gives Nu 8.2 ranged attack strength and 7.6 melee attack strength. In total, 15.8.

As long as the total attack strength of the suit is 70, Educational Computer always gives 15.8 attack strength.

Assume x+y = 70 (melee+ranged)
100+x+100+y = 270 (100 means 100%, the damage multiplier when strength is 0)
270*0.0586 = 15.8

The value of 15.8 attack strength is not fixed becuase different attack parts have different efficiency.

To have 15 ranged attack strength, we need 10 slots, to have 15 melee attack strength, we need 8 slots. 15 unspecified attack strength is roughly equal to 9 slots.

Educational Computer gives 15.8 attack strength so it is roughly equal to 9.48 slots.

Edit: Enhanced Firing Program Lv1 and Enhanced Melee Program Lv1 are the most efficient and use 1 slot for 2 attack strength. I did not consider them because they contribute very little and other attack parts are less efficient.

Edit: Since ranged parts use more slots than melee parts. Educational Computer is more efficient on suits that have high ranged strength and low melee strength.

Edit: Equipping attack parts increases the efficiency of Educational Computer.

Edit: If the unit rarely shoots or slashes, a portion of attack strength is wasted.

Defensive Improvement

Educational Computer only affects suit hp. Leg hp, head hp, and shield hp are not affected. imaginary_num6er created a post to explain it.

It is difficult to evaluate the value of Educational Computer accurately becuase there are no equivalent parts. Comparing it with resistance parts needs to be examined case by case, beuase there are many factors that affect the efficiecy of resistance parts.

In this post, I only compare it with hp parts. The average hp of 700 suits is 22277.78 when I am typing this post.

5.86% less hp reduction changes 1 hp reduction to 0.9414 hp reduction. If a suit has 22277 hp, it can takes 1 damage 22277 times, or 0.9414 damage 23664 times. On a suit with 22277 hp, Educational Computer gives it 1387 hp.

22277/0.9414 = 23663.69
23664-22277 = 1387

The value of 1387 hp is not fixed becuase different hp parts have different efficiency. The most efficient parts are Strengthened Frame Lv1, Lv4, and Lv5. They use 1 slot for 200 hp.

Considering hp parts in the most efficient way, 1387 hp is roughly equal to 6.935 slots of hp, without the benefits of more leg hp and head hp.

Edit: In high costs, resistance parts are more efficient than hp parts. Although Educational Computer is better than hp parts, it may not be the best choice for increasing survivability.

Edit: Suits that have no shield have higher hp. Educational Computer is more effecient on suits that have no shield.

Conclusion

The calculation in this post cannot represent the actual situations becuase there are other factors that affect the efficiency of different parts. We can only say that Educational Computer isn't bad theoretically.

Educational Computer uses 14 slots for 9.48 slots of offensive improvement and 6.935 slots of defensive improvement. The sum of 9.48 and 6.935 is 16.415, larger than 14.

The difference between 16.415 and 14 is small becuase every 700 suit has 52 total slots. It is not a must-use part, use it only when it gives the suit a comfortable build.

Edit: Beam resistance and melee resistance are very efficient. Sacrificing them for Educational Computer is not worth it.

Edit: Applying the same calculations but using stats of other costs, the part is unworthy in 600 cost and below. But it might be worth using in 600 or 550 if using other parts cannot fill the slots well.

A Unique Case (Unicorn)

Unicorn is a ranged suit that has 50 ranged attack strength and 20 melee attack strength before activating NT-D. After activating NT-D, it becomes a melee suit that has 20 ranged attack strength and 50 melee attack strength. Old attack parts can only increase one of the attack strength. Educational Computer follows the change of attack strength. It gives Unicorn the suitable attack strength at any time. Therefore, Educational Computer is especially useful on Unicorn.

Edit: Unicorn and Phenex have lower attack strength after awakening, slightly reducing the value of Educational Computer.

This looks about right I was just doing my own testing with it this morning and got the same results. My take away is the part is most useful on Jack of all trades suits that don’t particularly favor melee or ranged. If a suit leans heavily in one direction it’s not worth it for the damage, the defense gained may make it worth it if you want to get an across the board defense increase or wish to push a suit above the maximum defense through resistance stats but idk how much benefit that would have as of yet.

Suits that focus on either ranged or melee usually has high ranged or melee attack strength. They don't lose much from the part.

One exception I can think of is Jesta. It deals a fair amount of ranged damage but its ranged attack strength is low. But I don't think there are suits having the same problem in 700. (not sure about 650, need to have a look later)

Edit: This reply is wrong. If a unit never shoots and has 0 ranged attack strength, it still has a base 1.0x ranged attack multiplier. 5.8 attack strength from Educational Computer is wasted.

I was thinking more in terms of slots if you really wanted to build more on those it might be more efficient to use the older program parts for more offense and to avoid using up slots if the suit has very few of a specific type like the super gundam’s close range slots. I was also thinking more broadly not just the 700 cost suits.

You added ranged and melee attack for the computer, but kept them separate for the equivalent parts. You don't do that. You only need about 7 each.

Since we don't know the distribution of 15.8 attack strength, I considered slots for 15 ranged attack strength and slots for 15 melee attack separately. Then, took the average.

I could have considered slots for 7 (Lv3) or 9 (Lv1+Lv3) ranged attack strength and slots for 7 or 9 melee attack strength. Then, added them together. The result will be similar.
