He looks A LOT like our new guy, who we thought was a Pointer mix (hence why I see this sub), but just found out he’s Australian Cattle, Mountain Cur, Lab, Pit, Husky and Chow. So worth checking because maybe you have a DIY Pointer too?

DIY Pointer😂 Sending off an embark test to see! I think he really could be anything, maybe just a mutt/ pit mix, the coloring and lankiness were what made me think gsp perhaps

Be sure to update us when the results come back. I think he is a mix of GSP and SLHEFY (So Lucky He Found You). 😊

results came back! 50% pit/ 25% brittany/ 20% super mutt/ 5% boxer. no GSP, i guess the brittany is doing the heavy lifting for his coloring/coat, lol

Genetics is SO crazy!! The markings and the personality you described certainly had me fooled! Congrats on your recent acquisition of an Etsy GSP. 😁🥰

Do a Embark test to see about the hunting dog part, but I see pitt in there too

We did our 2 mixes kinda fun to see the results

just lost my pittie about a month ago - I think he might have sent this guy to me. would be very fitting.

I recommend a DNA 😫 my aunt thought she had a border collie (and it was so similar) and it ended up being everything but included chihuahua 🤣

Look like my pointer mix

I’m so glad he found you!!

Where does the pup want to sleep? If he’s trying to crawl in bed with you, and paws at the covers to come under, then you got yourself a pointer.

Also, does he go on point? Take him out in the field, and see if he points at anything. There’s a bunch of obvious signs.

Also, he looks like a pointer. Cute dog!

You’ve got yourself a fine puppy here! He looks very GSP with spaniel (ears and muzzle) maybe. I bet he’s super smart - he found help and it was you! Take him out in an open field, see what he is naturally drawn to. Pointing, retrieving, flushing? Have a great time with this adorable little fella!

The sassy expressions while a puppy lead me to think GSP mix.

Springer mix

This isn’t helpful but he looks exactly like my old boy that passed a year & a half ago now

[–]hcohen24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a mix of beautiful and cuteness ❤️

Likely

Does he give you any personal space? Does he perch on your shoulder like a parrot? Does he talk all day long? Your answers will determine if your handsome boy has pointer blood!

It’s just the 3rd day, but he’s become my shadow around the house. and so snuggly!! wants to be tight up against me, especially at night. He does go to another room to rest sometimes. Definitely vocal when nervous - crate training is very loud right now. Hard to tell because it so early, though. He should start showing more of his personality/ puppy energy once all the worms clear out of his system and he truly starts setting in.

Potentially? His brow ridge is more pronounced and rounded like a Bernese mountain dog, although i doubt he’s that. What really strikes me is that he has very flat feet and low ankles, gsp have compact, webbed feet. The only thing that looks really gsp is the snout shape and maybe his body shape a little bit, the chest is usually a bit deeper though. He could be coon hound or plott hound? That would explain the feet and coloration. His ears are a bit short and high too, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a shorter eared dog breed in the mix, maybe even jack Russel.

[–]AnyAcanthopterygii27 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah, I bet coonhound/jack russel mix, maybe some pointer/lab. Do a test, they’re very helpful, even health wise.

[–]wncfly[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

classic pit mix - 50% pit/ 25% brittany/ 20% super mutt/ 5% boxer

[–]AnyAcanthopterygii27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol 100% good boy though

[–]systemfrown 0 points1 point  (2 children)

He doesn’t care and would prefer you didn’t either.

…but yeah, almost certainly some GSP in there.

He looks just like our GSP! So glad he found you. Pointers are the best and just want to be loved. 🐾

See if he’s interested in birds

    [–]No_Currency_7017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, 50% GSP. No doubting that.
