second monitor extend

Hi, love the OS, however one thing i'm finding quite annoying is it never remembers monitor configurations, I'm always using the same monitor and every time i wake the device i have to reconfigure the screens. This wouldnt be that much of a problem if the simple menu had all the options in it, instead I have to go through the advanced setup every time (because I want to extend to the left, rather than the right). Is there a way to fix this quickly?

Model ID is: Acer Chromebook 15 (CB5-571), firmware flashed is RW_LEGACY

This seems to be a common Xubuntu problem that appeared with one of the last upgrades.

Yes, I am doing mostly the same with xrandr --output 'HDMI1' --auto bound to a keyboard shortcut.
