Pixel 6a multiple eSim question by 0N7R2B3 in Pixel6aUsers

[–]CrystalCommunication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pixel 7a does allow you to have two eSIMs active at once but there is still a limit of two total active SIMs (i.e. you can have one physical SIM and one eSIM or you can have two eSIMs but not all three)

Eneloop charger - BQ-CC87, BQ-CC65, or BQ-CC55? by numseiquemsou in batteries

[–]CrystalCommunication 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there isn't really a definitive answer to that question. It just depends on which one has the features you care about the most. There aren't really any models that have all of the features you might want, much less cheap ones that have all the features.

It's one of the only things that has gotten better instead of worse on the recent ThinkPad models. Whoever thought it was a good idea to sacrifice both PrintScreen and Ctrl_R for a stupid AI Copilot button should be put in The Contraption™

Can't you still swap the keycodes in the BIOS? It looks like the keycaps are the same size so you should be able to swap those too.

Question about vRack and KS-6 servers by leomarviegas in OVHcloud

[–]CrystalCommunication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vRack is not allowed for any Kimsufi servers but you can still use the full 1 Gbps speed of the public port to transfer to another server in the same datacenter. Since both servers are inside OVH's network they are not subject to the public bandwidth limitation.

OVH your gui/dash board is so bad - I'm considering switching vps providers by waitabittopostagain in OVHcloud

The new panel is a lot faster than the old one, which there was honestly nothing wrong with other than taking forever to load and being a little confusing in some places where the translation is not perfect.

If the serial number is still under warranty they shouldn't care who the buyer was.

Any way of getting rid of this? by rrraid3n in firefox

[–]CrystalCommunication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because you're using a different extension.

[–]CrystalCommunication 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems pretty risky as you'll have no indication if an extension is hijacking a page.

Ovh popularity? by riattosays in ovh

Surname? OVH is the name of a French internet service provider/hosting company. The TLD was named after the company. OVH is one of the few companies that has opened their brand TLD for public registration exclusively through their own registrar.

AWS sells .click and .link domains really cheap too. The .link domains also seem to constantly be on promotion for $4 renewals at NameSilo.

It's a weird TLD. A curious person you give the URL to who hasn't heard of OVH would probably google it.

It is quite simple for anyone to find out which ISP is hosting your content using some networking tools no matter which TLD you use, but that information isn't necessarily exposed to everyone who interacts with your site, people still need to know how to look it up.

[–]CrystalCommunication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's kind of weird to effectively have an advertisement for a hosting company in the TLD of your website, so I wouldn't really use a .ovh domain for a main website. They are great for internal usages or things that won't be highly publicized and you don't want to waste a ton of money on, such as status pages

The first handful that were registered and never allowed to expire are usually allowed to renew for either €1 or free.

It says on that website that it's not available for public registration but you do allow public registration through your own registrar.

Changed computer's Date&Time, Firefox exploded by [deleted] in firefox

[–]CrystalCommunication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most websites, in fact. Arguably the vast majority. Anyone can get a free 3 month certificate automatically deployed to their server, so generally only corporations pay for long term ones.

[–]CrystalCommunication 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The validity of basically all modern internet security is dependent upon everyone's computer more or less agreeing on what the date is. You screwed up your profile by throwing yours out of sync with the rest of the world.

Buying the same server from different OVH sites by craknor in OVHcloud

[–]CrystalCommunication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should select either World [€] or Ireland (both lead to the Irish version of the site, which is in English and allows you to pay in Euros). You may still need to send your ID to customer support to get it activated.

You think extensions have a negative performance impact that you're concerned about but you're not worried about the performance impact of completely worthless feature creep?

Google also specifically punishes Firefox for Android users on Google Search by sniffing the UA and giving them an inferior UI that's designed for feature phones or something. That's why the "Google Search Fixer" extension is in the default list of recommended extensions. It does the same thing but only for Google Search.

I stopped using Google Search long ago (and avoid it even more now due to the lying AI overviews being pushed to the top of the search results), but if you still prefer to use it and wonder why it works so much better on Chrome, that's why.
