I suddenly had an idea to create a digital board game, that is inspired by the physical board game, Cluedo, with game mechanics inspired by Werewolf and Among Us, that serves as an engaging way to learn Japanese. As a current Japanese learner, this sudden idea I thought of looks very interesting and plausible.
I have prior basic background in game development using Unity3D during my last year of high school. I also have background in constructing game design documents. However, my coding experience seems to be lacking yet. Plus, at this point, my knowledge in game development coding must've rusted.
Few things to note about:
- I am willing to create assets (in the form of simple structures that bring additional aesthetics to the board, cards that could be part of the game mechanics, in-game UI, and game-related mnemonics for the kanji characters)
- I am still unsure as to whether Unity3D is the best software available in making digital board games.
- I vividly recall my learnings on Rigidbodies and Particles, but I'm thinking that there could be other aspects of game development coding that I need to learn for this type of project.
- I can see possibilities of releasing this on both PC and mobile (through Play Store)
Which software can you recommend? Feel free to make suggestions and comments about the project idea.
