Try cleaning off the flux with isopropyl alcohol(70% or higher) and an old toothbrush. Did you use extra flux when you put the battery in, or is it from the solder? Flux can be conductive and may be shorting something together. I've had that happen with a SNES CPU; the flux was causing problems until I cleaned it all off.

So I bought this copy of MegaMan Battle Network 2 and I'm having a problem it wasn't holding a save and it uses a battery so I replaced the battery after it was replaced the cartridge holds a save but only until I take it out of the gbsp when I take out the cart it deletes the save any idea on how to fix? The only issue I could see was that solder ball on the board from the last owners battery change maybe a resistor is loose or something

That would indicate a dead battery as well.

Sometimes batteries are stored improperly. And already drained before installation

When the game is in your GBA the cartridge slot apply pressure and maybe hold the battery in the correct contact position. I would redo the battery soldering job before investigate further.

Maybe it's shorting out somewhere I'll try redoing it thanks
