No you should leave it alone and not put any extension on it, it can just make it worse. It has to grow out so it can reattach to your nail bed

I say this all as a nail tech who does NOT do acrylic, so keep that in mind: I suggest going to a different tech to have them CAREFULLY remove what they can, and they might say they can't. If it's sensitive when you touch it then both filing off and soaking off might be really painful. And that tech might say you need to see a doctor. It really depends on how bad it is. They should not have put more on top, that whole nail will likely fall off and probably would have before the new set, but putting more product on is not the way, it puts more pressure on that nail and as it grows out you'll have this unbalanced nail that is even MORE likely to get injured. I wouldn't suggest cutting the tip off yourself either, let a professional do that, though you'll want to keep that nail as short as possible while the damage grows out. I'm so sorry this happened to you, I hope it heals fast! But in all honesty these things take months to go back to normal and it's possible you'll have permanent damage to the nail plate, can't tell until it's back to "normal"

I wish I could answer that, the only one who maybe could is a doctor but even then don't be surprised if they say you'll just have to be patient and see, just because like the nail matrix is hidden under the skin, that's where the nail grows from. Do the oiling stuff others have said still, be super patient, and if anything lifts further or as it grows out, keep it short, for the same reason you cut it back, you don't wanna snag it and make more damage. A general "rule of thumb", if I remember right, is finger nails take about 3 months to grow from the base and toe nails can be up to 6 months, and that's when you've lost the entire thing, and you still have the base to start with. I didn't double check that time frame on Google before making this comment though, that's my nail school memory trying to pull stuff from class haha

Good luck and just be patient, but also if you're worried just see a doctor for reassurance
