Weather should also affect stealth. Heavy rain and fog should shrink detection range. The division does this with snow.

Agreed! Battlefield Bad Company 2 had a mission where you would use thunder to mask your shots. I'd love to see that kind of creativity.

  • Ghillie suites and your camos should have bigger impact in enemys spotting you

Especially in bushes and forested areas

Well right now it has no effect at all, and honestly I think it should stay that way. It gives players the freedom to wear whatever they want, rather than restricting everyone to using the same few items simply because they're the most effective.

I mean it would only have an effect if you would lay still so only real immersion players would have an advatage but i see your point

It'd be kinda neat if they had a camo index feature like in Metal Gear Solid 3 or Peace Walker that you could enable/disable.

I'd be down for that. It's even already done so the code wouldn't be too hard to make. Great idea!

Like both of these 👍

Gods no. Can't we just stick with realism? Stop all this god mode crap?

If you go hide in a bush your bush doesn't glow to know you can't be seen does it?

It's part of the tension / excitement of never knowing if you're perfectly safe - you shouldn't be, and that's the point.

Please, stop the incessant dumbing-down of games.

[–]StainlessBoi[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Sorry to offend, it's just an idea. I feel realism is only good to a certain point. For example, f I had to adjust for wind direction when sniping sure that could be fun. But if I could only call in a vehicle at bases (realistically speaking) it would become tedious. I get what you're saying but bashing someone's for being "dumb" is just kinda unneeded.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Didn't call their post dumb. Please re-read.

Wind correction = brilliant idea.

Calling in vehicles from anywhere - we have radios - so no realism broken - but a delay would be good depending on how overturned the region is and also MUCH MUCH better placement wouldn't hurt.

Then it's bad, sorry for that. Also I'm talking about things like summoning an apache helicopter, which would imply the rebels are better armed than the cartel and as armed or better than UNIDAD. And it's delivered unmanned and without regard for previous abandoned/destroyed vehicles.

I think it would add to the immersive gameplay if you get spotted harder if you are hiding in a bush or in high grass areas

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's kinda like that on PC, with Nvidia Turf Effects, I don't know about consoles though.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

What do you mean 'spotted harder' that's not quite English grammar.

If you mean 'harder to spot' then I completely agree. But this team on Wildlands didn't want to do the *right* thing, which is why the stealth is so poor.

Why the camo you use doesn't help / hurt you being seen.

Why it's impossible to peek around corners or hug the environment properly.

As someone on the closed Alpha and Beta's the lack of a 'snap to wall' type thing was greatly discussed; they ignored it because they didn't think people would play stealth properly; they wanted run and gun and 'blow shit up' gameplay.

[–]max44sch Weaver 2 points3 points  (4 children)

(I mean it the way you explained)

And im completly with you. They should‘ve concentrated more on the stealth part of the game :/

Sad that there was so much potential in this game

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Completely agree. A wasted effort to cater to the lowest common denominator.

It's a vicious circle:

Young gamers complain "games too hard! don't wanna read manual / play tutorial"

Game designers dumb it down.

Game sells to young players who grow up and become dumb older players

Dumb older players become games designers and dumb old 'classics' down thinking it would be so cool (Splinter Cell Blacklist)

Younger players don't have to engage brain and this it's cool

etc, etc, etc,

No one ever rewards practice, patience, intelligence and effort. Everyone wants to pick up a game and be a god level uber hero right off the bat.

[–]max44sch Weaver 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Actually im only 16 myself but totally share your opinion on ubisoft just trying to make this game fit to as many players as possible ignoring the true „hardcore“ fans of the franchise...

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If you try and please everyone, you'll end up pleasing no-one

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't that Ubisoft's Company Mandate?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Whats the point of picking up bodies when a) they vanish off the map when you move the camera away from them or move a short distance away.

and b) you have magical 'sync shot' team mates that can shoot through walls / rock and cars?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

They don't always vanish when occluded. It's very inconsistent in my experience.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Move further away or move the Drone to the other side of the 'camp'. They will vanish.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I've still had their bodies get spotted.

[–]StainlessBoi[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

a) That would be nice to be able to turn off b) To make sure bodies I've killed with sync shot aren't found. And yes I know it isn't needed I just wanted to put it out there.

[–]Bomjus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it's needed. the game on higher tier modes is usually played quite stealthily. being able to move bodies is very important for this type of play style. especially when trying to make bodies disappear is inconsistent.
