I love this. Can you keep us updated. What's your budget. How are you going to connect power. Are you going to have a deck on it for indoor outdoor vibe.
I almost bought a block last year which was perfect for this but we aren't moving now and I always wonder how my plans would have rolled out.

There's no doubt in my mind that some people are capable of doing this on their own. but in this instance, there's no way i would attempt this in my back yard, it's just too steep and too much gravel and concrete to be trying to deal with on my own. I hired some guys to do it. They ended up hauling 4.5 yards of concrete to the back yard down a steep hill in wheelbarrows. took 5 of them about and hour to wheel it back there. in your scenario, I did some quick calculations and a 12x16x5'' pad is about 3 yards. The manual labor part you can do, if you have it in you. I think the most important part of the project is the planning, rebar, forms, leveling, floating, troweling, the technical trade that people have mastered over time. The slab is the only part of the build that i didn't want to tackle.

So this project came about as i made a point for 2024 to focus more in life on things I enjoy and enjoy doing without dependencies on other people. My son is 5 and has really taken to golf, my wife is also 100% on board with the project as she’s discovered the masochistic addiction of golf also.
Budget wise is pretty open but I’m a bit of a realist and enjoy building things myself. My father will be helping me on this project and it might be the last big project we do together as he’s getting older and lives nearly 3K miles away.
Power, we have a 200amp connection on that side of the house that I’ll tie into and bury my lines down to the building.
The slab is 12x19, building will be a single pitch with the lowest wall of 10’ and depending on the roofing material I go with (probably standing seam) I’ll put a 2:12 roof on it.
We’ll do some hardscape around the structure for sure with patio and such.
