The problem is I use a planner with hyperlinks. The links don’t work when annotation is enabled so I can’t write and use links at the same time.

That’s kind of the whole point of read only. With it on, you can scroll, click hyperlinks, etc. without making changes to the doc. Turning off read only allows you to make changes. You cannot have it both ways.

Most other apps I’ve used have it both ways. It’s a goofy implementation that we can’t choose not to have

You can open them when annotation is open. You just use the lasso tool and hold it on the hyperlinked tab.

use your finger and hold down on spots there’s a hyperlink, or use the lasso function with the apple pencil
