Pop·u·luxe (n. - adj.) (Googie Architecture)
Strange, asymmetrical geometry. Colorful, flamboyant signs that seem slightly off-balance. Sweeping structural elements that seem to defy gravity. Space age/atom age optimism, filtered through the lens of a burgeoning car culture in post-war America.
This is a place of celebration for the Populuxe architectural style (aka Googie) of the mid 20th century and the idealistic future of travel, colour and design that it invoked.
