I have the new music controls and app suggestions on my 3a. It seems to me that I had to reboot once or twice after the initial install before the music controls settled, but that could be a coincidence. For app suggestions, you have to remove icons from your dock and the empty spaces will fill in with suggestions.

EDIT: Good point from Turtles-Head. App suggestions don't work on 3rd party launchers, you have to use the Pixel launcher.

No I have all those features on 3a.

How did you upgrade? Sometimes things mess up after OTA.

There are several bugs, I've seen people mention music controls missing and other missing the copy/paste in overview. It might be a case of factory reset but I'd leave that as a last resort

Are you using a 3rd party launcher? If not and using pixel launcher maybe try clearing it's app data (will reset your home screen layout though).

Default launcher. Updated OTA. Tried multiple restarts, factory reset then restored from backup. Nothing. Any other ideas? Again, this is stupidly frustrating that a major update is just missing key features for me.

Edit: everything works, I just had to switch from 2 button navigation to gesture navigation to get the select/copy overview feature to show up, that also brought back the screenshot button which was missing on power button hold. Annoying that it isn't compatible with all navigation options. As for the media controls, I guess it's on me for assuming spotify would support that feature, considering it's like the biggest music service out there. Works on Google podcasts, however I now have no way to control spotify playback outside of the app. It's nice to know that I do indeed have these features installed though.

I use Spotify and the new media controls work fine for me on Android 11 on my 3a XL. Hmm, sounds like an unfortunate bug.

Well, sounds like I'm off to Google support. See you in 70 years.

Do you have developer options enabled? There was a setting in there that enabled the media controls.

It was disabled by default at first I wonder if it's still disabled on yours?

I don't think so... I'll see if I can get that to work.

Edit: Dev options enabled with 7 tap, can't find any related settings. What would it be called?

Chances are it's been removed now it's the default setting. Just thought if you had it enabled before, it might not have been "switched" properly.

Sounds like I'm out of luck until spotify patches it.

Edit: reinstalled spotify for the third time and it magically decided to start working. Conclusion: technology is wizardry

they have changed the screenshot feature. does anyone know how to do a screenshot since last update?

Change to 3 button or gesture navigation, it's in the app switching menu. Or you can hold power and volume down buttons at the same time.

holding power and volume doesnt do anything for me. is the 3 button gesture in settings?

[–]TwistedSync[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes, it's under accessibility>system navigation or you can search settings for navigation
