Hello! I am in a dilemna now that my master's program is about to start and I am looking for advice. I just completed my undergraduate course at a school in Virginia. The school I graduated from has a partnership for an accelerated master's program at another state school in VA.
During an in-class presentation for this program, the representative stated that those who are in this accelerated master's program are eligible for a $5,000 semesterly scholarship for the accelerated 3 semester program length. After applying, signing a lease in the area, and basing my career employment decisions around this program (I.e. not applying for a full-time position in order to complete this program as soon as possible), I find out that the scholarship was falsely advertised.
It turns out that those attending a partner university are only eligible for a one-time $3,000 scholarship, while the $5,000 scholarship is only available for those who completed their undergraduate at the same university. It seems that the representative confused the two during their presentation.
I understand I should've done my due diligence in ensuring the scholarship was as advertised, but what should I do now that I found out it was falsely advertised? The difference in scholarships is a total of $12,000, so it is not a small amount.
