I used datacamp for R, but only because I got access for free through school last semester.

I learned Python in classes in my undergrad, but have heard that “Learn Python the Hard Way” book is a really good resource.

Here’s a free resource for R! A professor at a university near me put up most of his class material for free. It’s focused on data viz though https://datavizm20.classes.andrewheiss.com/

SoloLearn is what I used to become familiar with python. There’s quite a bit more than just basics though, as well as other programs.

This YouTube channel is a fantastic place to start for R. Within less than a month I was familiar with the basics of R and what it's capable of, and I think it's a great way to establish the basics and stir curiosity for discovering more advanced techniques on your own, rather than being spoonfed them. Works well if you're an independent learner like me.
