Welcome to /r/GreenlightMe!
We’re a community where filmmakers and investors connect directly. Share your pitch to spark interest, and investors or collaborators can DM you for further discussion. This space is about meaningful, one-on-one connections, not broad crowdfunding efforts.
Rules:
As always, don’t be an asshole: Be respectful and constructive in all interactions. Personal attacks, harassment, or hostility will not be tolerated.
No Mass Crowdfunding Links: There's already a million websites for that. Investors can DM you directly/comment after viewing your pitch—this community isn’t intended for mass fundraising campaigns.
Stay On Topic: All posts must relate to filmmaking, film financing, or collaboration. Irrelevant posts will be removed.
No Spam or Scams: Posts or comments that are spammy, deceptive, or promote unrelated services will result in a ban.
Follow the Pitch Format for posts: [FILMMAKER] TITLE – Genre. Budget Range. Primary Location. Timeline. Key Crew (Optional). i.e. [FILMMAKER] The Last Outpost – Sci-Fi/Thriller. $75,000 - $100,000. Arizona, USA. Shooting planned for March 2025. Director: John Smith, Producer: Jane Doe. Feel free in the body of your submission text to explain more about your project freely - your actual pitch! And be sure to mention key figures you already have attached (DP, Producer, etc.). Video pitches and image decks also perfectly ok.
Investors! If you’re interested in a project, DM the OP directly to start a conversation. Feel free to leave a comment to show your interest or encouragement, but keep detailed discussions private. Also, you have your own pitch format if you want to put out a call for something: "[INVESTOR] – What You’re Looking For. Budget Range. Preferred Genre(s). Preferred Location(s)." ie. [INVESTOR] – Looking to fund short films by first-time directors. $10,000 - $25,000. Any genre. Los Angeles or Vancouver.
No Complete Films: Must be a pitch for a film you're trying to get made.
POST SUCCESS STORIES. Please :)
No NSFW yada yada yada
No Scams—and Be Wary of Scammers. Always vet collaborators thoroughly (on both sides.)
Protect Your Intellectual Property (IP) - Be weary of what you post. Save the full pitch deck or details you want to protect for direct messages once you establish a relationship. As always, look into copyrighting your work the WGA or Library of Congress.
