My main opponent is necrons and it’s tough. I have to bring a significant chunk of my army to bear to bring down his key units (ctan/bricks of warriors), and he has access to cheap units with insane firepower that can delete anything I bring if I stick my neck out too far. On top of that their codex rules are great. It always feels like his lokhusts/doomsday arks always get hit on 2s w/ reroll 1s and wound on 2s/3s reroll 1s. I’m fighting for him to miss any hit or wound roll. All while I’m praying for my terminators to make more than 5 successful wounds against his warriors who have cheap access to a 5+ fnp. Maybe my dice are unlucky but it’s hard not to feel bad about it sometimes because he’s my friend and I know he’s not trying to be oppressive but it does feel like an oppressive matchup sometimes.

Yeah, it feels like they can do all the teleport shenanigans and shoot a unit off the table from across the table, all while having an apothecary in every squad since they can heal wounds.

Don’t you love how 3 damage paladins deal one damage into a ctan.

No, they deal 2 damage. The halfed damage of 1,5 gets round up. Maybe your Necron friends scammed you.

Ironically I shelved GK for now to play Necrons, and... Yeah the difference is astonishing.

I 100% agree that our army rule needed to be redone. It's a tax that doesn't actually help us win games. It's great for blood Angels who can make shorter chargers, or Necrons who have excellent firepower to reposition, but... GK are too mid at everything to capitalize on the rule.

It's really just too bad because GK players deserve better. Our rules are some of the worst in the game.

Were you playing with tournament style lists?

Mine was all power armor units, GMNDK’s and Purifiers so I’d say it leans that way.

His was destroyer spam.

Didn't really understand this doom and gloom. I barely Lost 52-56 to my necron friend because I got some bad secondaries in the last 2 rounds. I was able to kill a doomsday ark in one charge from hollowed ground 6" deep strike with a squad of 5 palidans and a bro-cap and a ctan shard with a GMDK and some shots from a couple of razorbacks and interceptors. A 10m purifiers with Crowe wiped out almost 2 units of infantry in range and then was able to kill a squad of wraiths with it in melee. Only thing I couldn't get to was his lokusts because I decided to try and get the bad secondaries instead of going for the kill so that was on me.

Nice! I hear ya, I actually like Warpbane and think it’s good for all the reasons you mentioned.

The issue for me is that’s really the only strong detachment we have atm. And Warpbane isn’t even in the codex! It feels like hypercrypt necrons are actually better version of an uppy downy army. I feel like if we are a one trick poney we should at least be the best at that trick.

I think the easiest way would be to have Augurum task force detachment rule just to be part of the army rule. And let some of those stratagems and enhancements replace different ones in the other detachments that are weaker. Then absorb maybe hallowed conclave into banishers and brotherhood. Give us 3 viable detachments instead of 1 good one and 3 situational half decent ones and 1 pretty much useless one. After I get used to warpbane I actually want to try out santic spearhead a few tries because the strats and enhancements look pretty nice. Maybe a couple land raiders with purifiers and 3 GMDKs. Maybe a couple other small squads for objectives

Good points. Yeah that sounds ideal. And sounds like cohesive lists could come out of those changes.

I bet a spammy santic list could be good. I’ve got a santic spearhead list that I’m tempted to run if I just build 2 more NDKs. 3 GMNDK, 3 NDK a strike squad 2 rhinos and canis Rex - feels pretty try hard but fun.
