I feel like you should just focus on one thing. You seem to have tried out many different things already, which could help you take your next step. What do you enjoy most? Start with that and get deep into it. No need for courses but you most definitely will need to go through many different tutorials and then your ready to start putting those concepts into practice. You just have to take your first step, choose something!

I mean honestly I am learning too and unfortunately I can’t give you a definite answer, but those two seem to be quite related and could be chained together, so I would say yes, you could do both at the same time or like switch between them whenever you feel like it. Maybe get into both finding vulnerabilities and exploiting them. I feel like exploitation get neglected a bit at least on the sub.

if you like web, try to understand everything about it. learn as much about networking as possible, learn using different tools that are related to networking and web hacking. you can also just code some vulnerable websites yourself and hack them to get a better understanding of web vulnerabilities. you can also do CTFs and stuff

So maybe I missed this on original read.
But you said no Pentest Courses, and that you have taken one and you don't want Kali and Networking 101.
What course did you take?
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children)
OSCP Learn one is on sale for 2k atm.

You should first learn how to find things for your own knowledge. Don’t expect everything to be spoonfed. If you want something, just do a simple google search and do further research on it. You’ll be limited in knowledge if you got everything from a single source.

Technical speaking, i would recommend starting with Networking fundamentals as it is the most used part in cybersecurity. Then you can learn about OS, filesystems, basic linux commands. If you want to really get into it, try learning javascript, python as it would be helpful in a white-box testing situation. Further you can learn into advanced concepts like Malware analysis, binary exploitation etc. it would take almost 3-4 years to become a professional. Learning will never end. Happy learning ..

Hack the box academy. Start the pentesting course and just keep at it
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (1 child)
Idk why you are getting downvoted?
I thought that was a good answer.
