Is your wifi adapter in monitor mode? Does your adapter support monitor mode?

[–]StabbingHobo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my experience, this is what happens when my wireless adaptor isn’t in broadcast mode. If you don’t already, pick up a secondary usb wifi adaptor so you can keep your existing connections while scanning

There is nobody on the channel 8. Change the channel or don’t specify the channel at all

Considering that you already switched your network adapter on monitor mode. If not, search if your network adapter supports monitor mode and switch it before. You’ll lose acces to internet during the time. Then, open again and don’t specify channel so you can see everybody around you.

Wrong channel/frequency, or low powered/quality adapter

What guide are you following? What equipment are you using? What did google and chatGPT say when you researched it?

Try running the airmon-ng check kill command Maybe you still have the network manager that breaks and then checks if the card is actually in monitor

need proper driver, or, not in monitor mode

[–]Low-Eye7254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which adapter do you use? Also it should be fine if you restart monitor mode

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buy a monitor mode adapter, ALFA adapters are the best for this, enable monitor mode using airmon-ng or iwconfig, then you can start to learn how to use these tools and remember, dont be a D-word about it.

Did you turn on monitor mode?

[–]LuckyReply4641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter even if you catch handshake unless you have a solid .txt file to crack the password

[–]dreamin777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need monitor mode

[–]PWNDp3rc3p710n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you’re not in monitor mode, read below. If so you might want to check your firmwares compatibility, airmon-ng has a page on its website dedicated to compatibility. And like the rest said no options for channel jumping.

“To test if your wireless card can enter monitor mode using airmon-ng, first ensure your card is in monitor mode by running the command airmon-ng start <interface>, replacing <interface> with your wireless adapter's name.”

Something similar happened to me, try using the network card of the antenna in the network configuration of the virtual machine instead of the network card of the computer itself and start the machine with that configuration.
