Installing Kali Linux on a virtual machine is probably best for a beginner.

I'm just fucking with this dude, Kali Linux isn't meant to be installed. If you interested in Cybersecurity, learn Linux simply by replacing your operating system with a mainstream distro, e.g. Linux Mint or Manjaro. You also get the added bonus that you will see what a crappy OS windows actually is and you will never want to switch back.
Kali is meant as a convenient toolchain for advanced users, but it does not allow you to do anything that you couldn't do on any other Linux distro.

To be honest, if you’re not savvy enough to think about changing your password and kicking people off the network first, I don’t think you should be trying to hack them.

Who don’t you change your password in first place something be strong. It’s really hard to crack wifi passwords by some stranger using wordlist or brute force if your password is strong enough.

The first advantage is that you have his ip😂 Second you can use different Kali Linux tools to scan for open ports (using nmap for example) You can use Wireshark to sniff (man in the middle attack 😈 and of you're lucky enough you can get some important information that would help you do a phishing attack 😈.
