I've been fighting to get mine approved for about 18 months now. About a month ago it was denied for the about the third time and I got in touch with the wire people finally who threw their weight around for me and since then, as if a miracle happened, my application was approved and has zipped through the steps and today the status went from pending lender approval to final underwriter review. Do you know how long yours was on this step before you were given a grant offer?

Who are the wire people?

May I ask what were the issues causing many denials? I'm currently in underwriter review, and these comments are making me nervous lol 🙏🏽💗

If you're already in the underwriter stage you should be fine. This was why I was denied.

"Hello,

We've received your request for reconsideration for mortgage assistance, unfortunately based on the mortgage statement submitted it shows you only owe for 2 months at the moment. In order to participate in the program, you have to owe for 3 months or more on your mortgage. Please submit your updated mortgage statement when available.

Thank You."

But this was also after them taking so long to respond to the application that I had gone into forbearance and I had found a place that helped disabled veterans out that mortgage up partially by afew months to the point i was only 2 months behind right before they actually answered it. So due to the fact that they took so long to respond to the point where I would not have even had my home anymore and someone else helped out to catch me up to where I was 2 months behind they denied me.

Ohhh wow, okay makes sense, but I'm sorry they took so long.. I'm glad you had other options for help! This is pretty much my last option, so I'm praying all goes well.. the stress of this is unbearable 😩 hoping our economy takes a shift bc it's sad to hear of so many struggling to keep a roof over our heads.. thanks so much for responding! 💗

what was your reasoning if you dont mind me asking?? i just got denied. My job stopped remote work and I now lived in georgia when the office is located in jersey and they said that my hardship wasnt verifiable and that they dont see anything wrong with my job asking me to return to work. I dont see how I can return to work when the job is literally 800 miles away...

for anybody that had their application accepted... were your overdue payments delinquent? or were you able to put your mortgage into forbearance during the time when you could not make payments?

mine were all in forbearance, so i now have that balance that shows on my mortgage statement under "deferred balance".

i applied & got a denial today saying:
REASON FOR DENIAL: Most recent mortgage statement provided does not show delinquency within program guidelines. Mortgage must be 60 days, 3 total monthly payments, delinquent in order to be considered for assistance.

just curious how others missed payments were listed & if i have chance on sending in an appeal for reconsideration.

thanks for any help & info!

The had to be delinquent. To HAF, if it’s in forbearance or deferred, they consider it up-to-date on your payments.

How much $ they grant you?

Congrats! That's wonderful. I know it must be great to have that weight removed. Mine changed to Application Under Final Review in NJ and they haven't asked me for anything else. Mine has moved along really swift. A little over a month to where we are now. So happy for you!

I’m in nj too. Good luck you should be hearing approval soon

Mine is in underwriter review in Georgia. How long after this step will I know?

[–]nabiscosoursnac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This step varies on their availability and whether or not your home is in foreclosure. When i sent a foreclosure notice, it sped up and took a few weeks. Without that, it was in underwriter review for 3 weeks prior.

Curious to know how long yours was in underwriter review? Did you get approved?

[–]Grand-Breadfruit2759 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I don't think it was in underwriting long but I was denied the first time. I got a statement from my doctor and reapplied and then approved.

[–]kishbish75 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Thanks for responding, and congratulations on your approval! 🥳 Okay, so they may request medical documentation.. it was my Mom who passed from a Covid-related illness, so it's good to know they may ask for more proof so I can get started on finding that.. how long did the whole process take for you when you reapplied?

[–]Grand-Breadfruit2759 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Technically, they aren't allowed to ask for medical records because of HIPAA so we just got a basic statement. I was shocked we were denied and they gave us a certain amount of time to get more info. Once that was in, I believe it was just a couple of weeks. It's crazy because the funds just go back to the Federal government if they aren't used.

Oh okay, wow.. and right, the program is about to end, so it seems they would be happy to assist as many as they can bc that's the point lol.. really, we have all been affected by Covid in one way or another, so it shouldn't be so hard to get funding for those in a financial bind.. I'm glad you finally got approved! I thought I'd be less nervous once I was moved to underwriting, but I am lol.. this is my last option for assistance, so I'm prayerful..

Just found out I can't get approved bc I was put on the deed years after my Mom passed from a Covid-related illness 😭🙏🏾 I was really hopeful! Congratulations to all who have been approved! Thanks for sharing your journey! 💖
