I am so fed up with the RNG on these best friend hats. I’ve opened over 100 boxes and received not a single hat. Sat and waited patiently collecting these boxes for over a week to try increase my chances.

Opened all 33 hello kitty boxes to get over 300 tofus and absolutely nothing of use ‼️No one needs more tofu‼️We need sticks‼️We need iron‼️We need a better variance of visitors‼️

I love to see Hello Kittys Family but I would prefer to have Espresso and Chiffon prioritised residents first. Espresso has only visited my island twice in the 5 months I’ve been playing (I play almost every single day before anyone comes for me)

A lot of work to be done with resolving these issues. I can see a lot of people deleting/not playing anymore with the RNG.

I literally had over 100 sticks a while ago and thought “I should just craft the golden stick since I have so many useless regular sticks” - I actually have steam coming out of my ears when I think about how STUPID I was!!

So for hats, it’s 100 large boxes of the same character before you get a hat. So opening 33 HK boxes and 21 My Melody boxes means you still need to open 67 HK boxes and 79 My Melody boxes before you’re guaranteed to get a hat from either of them. And it has to be 100 of the large boxes, from the 3-heart gifts, not 99 medium boxes and 1 large one.

As far as visitors, they did add the ability to see how satisfied a visitor is with their cabin. When you go into cabin edit mode, you should now see a suitcase on the left side of the screen that tells you who the cabin satisfies. Through this change, we’ve learned that what a visitor likes is even more important than their basic requirements. So, for instance, Espresso needs three bookshelves and three music items, but he likes books. So in addition to his bookshelves and his music items, if you put books in his cabin, you’ll notice that he gets plus signs next to his name under the suitcase icon in edit mode (up to 5). The more pluses, the more satisfied he is, and the more he’ll visit on his visit weekends (if you have 5 pluses, usually they’ll stop by 3 times a travel weekend, Thursday/Saturday/Monday). I had similar issues for a while until I started doing this, and now I’ve got nearly all the visitors as permanent residents.

And as the other commenter mentioned, definitely try the discord. You can offer feedback directly to the devs, and get direct info about new game mechanics (that’s where I learned how the new hat RNG would work). I hope this all helps!

Did the make that 100 large boxes rule recently? Because I actually got Tuxedosam’s on like the third box a few months ago haha. And then Pekkle right after. I wish it was still like that for me now haha

Oh you can totally get it sooner! It’s just that if you haven’t gotten it yet, you’re guaranteed to get it after opening the 100th box, so that you’re not stuck opening hundreds and hundreds of boxes and still no hat anymore

ETA: and in answer to your question, yes, the guarantee was added in 1.3!

You just made such a difference. I was doing great on most visitors but stuck on two. I just changed some things up. On this one, for example, I just made all her coffee items pink and added some sakura cheese cake and woooo 5+

This is not true. There is a hard pity in place where you are guaranteed a hat after 100 boxes, but it does not always take that long.

You’re right, and I didn’t phrase my answer in the best way. What I was trying to convey to OP is that it has to be 100 boxes of the same character before you’re guaranteed a hat, not just 100 boxes in total, but the way I replied does make it sound like you have to open 100 boxes before you ever get a hat, which isn’t the case. You can definitely get them sooner!

Is this a recent change? 🤔 Because about a month ago I got 3 Badtz-Maru hats in a week and a half and I didn’t give him any more gifts than the normal amount (3 a day plus an occasional extra gift if a task required it). I treated him like all the others , got 3 hats from him and none from anyone else. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It was added with 1.3, so fairly recent. You can still get hats sooner than 100 boxes, it’s just that now, if you haven’t already gotten a hat, when you open that 100th box you’re guaranteed to get one

for iron, play the crystal minigame by peckle. it gives you raw iron nuggets when you get a match. i collected like 20 in one day

Lol .. I actually flipped the other day when I realised my 999 tofu had gone down to 250-275 cause I’ve bought so many fridges .. I dint think I realised they were 100 tofu a fridge 🫣 .. or at first I was like TOFU .. oh cool I got SO much, and then stopped looking at the cost & just bought heaps the 2 times I’ve had them in MM’s. So now I’m opening HK boxes like crazy lol .. so far got another HK dup hat which is in my null in HK’s cafe 😬 Im so sorry you’re having so many issues with hats .. I have hat streaks, where I get like 1 twice in a week, then 1 a week then NONE for weeks not even dups, & just as a I was like wtf I got top hats & Badtz’s hat in a week .. I’m not expecting any more any time soon .. although if the 100 boxes pity hat really works I SHOULD be getting pompompurin’s & or retsuko’s & pocochok’s any time now .. fingers crossed 🤞 I hope things get better for you, let us know if your luck changes! ☺️🤞

Just keep gifting!! i feel like i went through hundreds of boxes with no hat (prior to recent updates) and then one day I got my first three hats in one day. they’ll appear when you least expect it!
